Some 10 years ago in 2001 Microsoft and Bungie released a little game called Halo: Combat Evolved. The game went on to became a classic hit and 10 years later the same game was re-released with upgraded and re-mastered graphics. The results are mind boggling, Halo: CE Anniversary is a gorgeous beautiful looking game that fits pretty well with today's games graphic standards.

Perhaps even more amazing and impressive is the gameplay. Either Halo: CE was way ahead of its time when it was released some 10 years back or gaming haven't advanced much since then because the gameplay is solid and very fluid. It's a flawless gameplay and every move feels quiet natural and at par with the gameplay of the best of todays games. It's hard to believe games played this good some ten years back.

Halo: CE Anniversary is a true run and gun game. To succeed and finish the game you have to be constantly on the run and shooting. This makes for a very fast paced action packed game with enemies coming at you very fast. The story here spanning some ten missions is about a three way war between humanity, an alien race called the Covenant and the deadly relentless Floods that kills all in its path. At the center of this war is you, Master Chief a genetically enhanced super soldier.

The game kicks off in a space ship under attack by the Covenant. You have to escape this ship then take the war to the Covenant. The action is fluid, fast paced and very engaging, there is never a dull moment. This is a very challenging game with smart tough enemies standing between you and the end credits of the game. The first few missions is just you verse the covenant consisting of the Grunts who are a push over and easy to kill, the Jackals who use shields so they cant be easily shoot you have to kill them up close and personal by melee attach. There are also the Elites who are Master Chief's equivalent if not superior to him. Lastly there are the Hunters, there are a few of then through out the campaign but boy are they very hard to kill. They are these big huge aliens with protective armour.

Your first encounter with the Flood is very satisfying and raises your heart rate. The gameplay and cut scenes leading to this first encounter get you fully immersed in the Halo: CE world. It starts off in a very thick jungle with a very thick fog and this intense music that just tells you something exciting is coming. The game does a great job of building up the Flood and introducing then, it wants you to know that a very fierce enemy awaits you. It's superbly superb how they put you in Master Chief's shoes and make you feel the danger ahead. Your heart raises and you feel the adrenalin rush in anticipation of the danger ahead then boom the Floods arrive and the fighting starts. The action gets even more intense and fast paced the moment the Floods get in to the picture. Its total madness with the Floods coming at you in large numbers and very fast, faster than the Covenant and boy is it fun. The little baby bug like floods blow up and shred in to pieces like paper when you shoot then making the gun feel really powerful.

The few problems I have with Halo: CE Anniversary is that it's a very repetitive game with you going back and forth through the same areas. Also there are some missions where you have to infiltrate the Covenant and you would think Master Chief being the best there is would be the first human to go deep in to Covenant land but no you will find dead Marine corpses already there. Finding dead marines in an area is such a bum as it makes Master Chief feel like second best to Marines who got there first.
