With the Xbox 360 preparing for retirement we cast a look back over its most memorable features.
Love my 360. Never let anyone else operate it. EVER. Still got plenty of life left in it, and I see myself still using it in 18 months time given my game backlog. It might well have a companion PS3 by then though. This gen has been amazing.
i enjoyed playing games on the 360... but thats got a lot more to do with the games, and the software that went into creating those games, than M$ and its console. all that gave me was a bitter after taste to an otherwise great gaming generation.
Hip hip hooray. I got me an Xbox 360 finally am on par with everyone... oh wait, Xbox One is almost out... owwwhmaaaan!
|So who is going to wait about a month before release before they actually pre-order rather than doing it now and getting no added benefit? (raises hand)
the 360 overall was a piece of shit, I went through 3 of the console in its lifetime and started using rechargeable batteries after i gave up on their battery packs.
BUT..... was probs the best platform for gaming, and has a great controller
Most of the things presented in the video, we'd rather forget.
However, the 360 gave me a lot of wonderful gaming experiences, particularly with its exclusive titles.
Looking forward to playing the 360s swan song games before I move on to the next generation of gaming consoles.
If this is true, It seems Microsoft plans to play dirty at e3

@Yulaw2000 hmm... extremely skeptical about that. im thinking that would probably be illegal. any way i really dont think that sony have too much to worry about from M$. only idiots and fanboys with more money than sense will buy the "exbox-one-you-dont-want"
@foxrock66As long as there are Rumors, people reacting to every litte word spoken against anything the discussions won´t stop.
In case of XB360 and the X1 it´s quite simple: The XB360 made a huge step for gaming,MS added a lot of functions with more then 3 Dashboards, they had the best Allround-controller up to date - I think it won´t be much dirfferent in the next gen.
If I look at Sonys Performance,I don´t belive they really can keep up.They couldn´t with the PS3 in almost every way, so why now?If the PS4 proves to be worth the money in 2 or 3 years I´ll buy it too,but right now it was all flash with a really weak substance.
@Ash2X @foxrock66 that is so short sighted... never assume because of the previous success, that the next console must be a sure thing.
@Ash2X @foxrock66 and that could be why you make the wrong choice... You should look at both consoles and see what is right for you, not choose an X1 because the 360 was the better console of this gen..... I chose a Sega Saturn over the Playstation due to my love of the Mega Drive (genesis) and that was a bad move
I have good memories of Dragon Age and Mass Effect (the originals). I must say though that the kinect is great fodder for dance games and I wonder why a Dragon Ball Z Ginyu Force dance game was never made. There should be one for the XBox One. Because it would be hilariously awesome. Especially if you could record dance lineups and challenge others to them.
What I remember about the 360 is having a shit load of fun on Halo 3. Good times =).
@StarlightHunter Halo is pretty much why I have an Xbox 360 and Halo 3 was by far the best of the series on the console.
@StarlightHunter Halo 3 was why I bought my second 360 after my first was stolen during finals week. Chief finding Cortana in Halo 3 still stands as one of the most moving cutscenes I've experienced in a video game. I very much liked that.
Wow, I forgot about the interchangeable face-plates. I remember thinking having one of those made my 360 cooler.
can fanboys please stop with this console war bullshit...The 360 was a great machine and so was the ps3. THE END!
Just going to be extremely pedantic and point out that while the 360 might have been a good, maybe even great console, it was a crap-tastic MACHINE.
@ivan_osorio I can easily say the same thing about the PS3. While most people got unlucky with their 360's I've been unlucky with the PS3. Both systems were poorly designed. The 360 had horrible ventilation and Sony was dumb enough to have their PSU inside the system. I would rather have that external "Brick" if it meant having a cooler system...Both the 360 slim and slide tray PS3 have been perfected now so what are you getting at? The only systems I've ever owned that NEVER failed me were Nintendo systems as "kiddy" and "crappy" as everyone claims them to be. Both my original xbox and ps2 are softmodded since their laser lens failed like 2-3 years ago (Pretty good run). The gamecube however still plays games flawlessly and shows no signs of slow disc reading unlike the previous systems I mentioned. So in the end the 360 and PS3 are great systems but were initially poorly desgned which is the reason why they had to redesign them with newer models
@PosiTVEMinD355 @ivan_osorio the consoles were shit. what was great, was the games that we played on them.
lets remember this instead, keeping the press quiet:
http://n4g.com/news/1272329/microsoft-cancels-e3-post-press-conference-roundtable-with-media
@MjnE Not really sure that applies to the 360 but years down the road this is something we'll always remember about the XB1 for sure.
Sounds like MS has a lot of things to sort out, so no sense in them making things worse at E3. I don't blame them after all of the backlash, but all this does is let the world know that they really don't have a solid plan in place for XB1 which is sad. I don't think Sony does either based on all of their ambiguity surrounding used games, DRM, etc. but at least Sony was smart enough to stay quiet until they had it figured out.
I think, next to the Genesis, the 360 might be me favorite console of all time. Many great games, a great and reliable online service, and feature packed. Besides the RROD fiasco which netted me around $100 from MS as an apology I've had no problems. Many drunk nights with friends playing Forza, CoD, and many other great games kept us connected when I moved 900 miles away. Plus the achievement system made me keep games longer and kept me interested in them.
I miss the old "Blades" Dashboard, but I suppose M$ have to put their ads somewhere and the Blades format didn't suit.
Best memories of the 360, for me, is playing Gears 1 MP almost every day, over a span of close to 5 years. Made some good friends playing that game. Also playing co-op Terrorist Hunts on Rainbow Six was great fun.
Shame the 360 is being replaced with a crappy multimedia box that charges you for playing used games and will continue to charge you for the privilege of playing online.
@sonyfreak456 Okay, let's hear them...all 360 of them.
1. You're name is sonyfreak (in other words..fanboy)
2. See 1.
3. See 1.....
@spectreSE7EN This must be the most awesome answer ever, in my opinion, every console has his good and bad things, and people should chill the fuck out about the xbox one and ps4. MS and sony will explain everything at E3. either way, in the end, both systems will be on my desk.
@jeroent123 @spectreSE7EN Your statement means war. We are gamers. We are trained for war. There can be no peace between us.
My first console had RROD, so I had to let it go, my second had videocard problems , becouse it had a red screen every now and the, so I sent it back thanks to the warranty, and the third console was finally good. for about 3 years. aaaaaaand its gone! RROD .... Planing on buying the forth console.. I hope the slim is not as bad as the old ones...
@Banyek The slims are pretty solid. I've had mine since they came out and haven't had any issues. Know several people with slims who say the same thing.
@spectreSE7EN @Banyek thx, Im definately getting one in the very near future!!!! Altough the video shows 2 of those slims go wrong somehow. :/
@Banyek @spectreSE7EN I can vouch for it, my xbox slim gives me no problems whatsoever, sadly I cant say the same for my ps3 slim but I heard the slide tray ps3 is much better
Oh boy, i remember when this thing came out, I was in New York. Was out of stock on every store, one day i was on that Virgin megastore, they received a new shipment, i was very close to buying one, but only selling in like $500+ bundles, so i didn't. That really saved me, i would certainly get a RROD and have no way to return it since i don't live in the US.
I am very afraid to get a console at launch this next-gen because of that.
Well there's some things I won't forget.
The day I started up my 360 and it RROD'ed on me.
The day I started noticing my discs getting scratched and then realizing the extra 'protection' I bought on my games didn't cover it.
The day I started up my 360 and the hard drive had failed.
The day I started up my 360 and noticed certain games had a hard time of being read by the disc drive making games either crash fests or simply wouldn't play at all. Like all rockstar games...Halo 4, etc.
The day I picked up a Kinect, with the hopes of one day playing a great Star Wars game...only to find out Kinect didn't work, and the Star Wars game that eventually arrived looked so crappy I never picked it up.
But I had a blast with various shooters that I will never forget. From Perfect Dark Zero, to Ghost Recon 1 and 2, to Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2, Halo 3, to the Call of Duty games. From 2006-2008 they had a really great run of games. 2009-2010 not that bad. A bunch of meh since.
I'll remember some great games on the most POS constructed product ever.
Great video but it was missing...
Danny O'Dwyer sitting alongside the Xbox360... for one final drink together!
(Only for Xbox and Playstation to get insanely drunk, fight with each other, then bury the hatchet, once the pair of them realised that they shouldn't be fighting each other in this pointless, never ending squabble, known as the console wars? NO! They should be joining forces against their common enemy... The Gamers!)
Let's create DRM and screw them all? lol.
I loved the silence at the point RE6 was mentioned too.
I did enjoy my Xbox. But i always go back to old faithful, My wonderful, my most lovely partner in crime: PC!
"you ever wonder what the bottom of a shoe looks like? Well BAM...right there wrecking the Xbox-One". :)
1 thing well never forget is just how idiotic the fanboys were. Yes Rasta, that includes you, lol.
@RighteousWoman PS3 does not need fanboys. I'm just speaking the reality. Sorry if you can not handle the thruth.
