The first next gen installment of the Halo series.

I so far have bought Halo 1 for the PC, Halo 2 for the original xbox, and now I find myself with an xbox 360 playing Halo 3. In my opinion sequels are never better than the original because sequels feel they don't need to bother with story if the first one already did that. Wrong, a game should be able to stand on its own. Now I played all the Halo games so I came in well informed but playing the game a second time through for the achievments i noticed that the story is just god awful in this game. In the end of the 2nd Halo master chief gets in an alien ship and says "I'm ending this war". Then Halo 3 starts with Master Chief crashing through the atmosphere of Earth again in Africa and meets up with all the people he just said he was leaving to go save humankind. The beginning of this game just totally ignored what they just did with the second Halo. I was expecting master chief to be a lone wolf struggling into the core of covenant. Instead Halo 3's single player seemed just like Halo 2's.

Well anyway I'm sure anyone reading this who has a clue about the Halo series would point out by now that the best part of the game is the multiplayer. I had a similar experience to this now that I have review Frontlines: Fuels of War. Multiplayer in Halo 3 was the first time I played multiplayer in one of these games and I came in hoping for the best thing ever. Really I found it to be simple death match. Maybe a few twists thrown in to keep it relatively fresh but the other play modes are like glittered eggs, they have a little sparkle but they just end up the same either way. Honestly Call of Duty 4 had a more enjoyable multiplayer than this even though basically CoD4 was also just death match but when you put in the other modes it felt different. By the way I should really get around to reviewing that.

All in all Halo 3 is average but it is a must have because if you have an xbox the first thing anyone will ask you is "DO YOU HAVE HALOOOO 3?!!" and if you say no what does that say about you? You commie.
