Fun, Atmospheric, and a good peek into the ODST perspective, just too short and lacks competitive multiplayer.

User Rating: 9 | Halo 3: ODST X360
Halo 3: ODST is a more unconventional Halo game, but that doesn't mean it isn't any good. The player will drop feet first into the invaded city of New Mombasa. Separated from his squad, the Rookie will set out to find his squad through clues and links into their points of view.

The gameplay is almost the same as Halo 3, but with the addition an atmospheric city, silenced weapons that dynamically change gameplay, and a visor mode that outlines objects and provides some night vision. The game is tuned for the weaker odst's. The recoil, health system, and visor are different. There is more recoil, health is regained by optican gel packs, and the visor is an amber color and displays vitality instead of shields and there is no motion sensor.

The story is great. The Halo setting sets a great twist on mystery and stealth. The music helps set the tone with a sad but exciting soundtrack. The only problem being that the game was too short! I completed it in less than 5 hours, and I said to myself " Really? that's it?? Awwww." Because the story is so great, I replay ODST often and the mood it sets stays with me. I won't forget ODST.

The story was great, but the multiplayer is a totally different story. You get all of the Halo 3 maps but it is depressing that Bungie couldn't have thought up of a unique competitive multiplayer for ODST. You get instead, Firefight. Firefight is basically Horde mode for Halo. You fight against waves of covenant, but it eventually gets dull and repetitive.
