This is absolute arcade game from start to finish. You can't unlock the other modes until you start arcade mode and you learn the ropes from there. Really there are no ropes though. It's very easy to play and is a little like football. In fact, it's just like football. I enjoyed it and I don't even like or play football. You catch the crystals while avoiding the echoes which are the evil version of you. Following the classic arcade rules, you can't touch these or you lose a life. You've got to swerve out of the way avoiding the echoes while trying to get to the crystal and competing for the best time record that you can. Imagine doing the shake and bake while trying to get to the ball and not fumbling. Hard isn't? Well this is much simpler. The echoes are slow and you are way faster than this. Slow Echoe + Fast You = :) . But jokes aside, you will love this game no matter what and with only a $2.99 price tag you ain't got nothing to lose right?
