The port was succesful, and Half Life 2 for the Xbox is everything we were hoping for.

Half Life 2 for the Xbox isnt exactly the PC version, but that dosen't mean it cant be awesome! This game is very unique, and i am suprised that they were able to port this game to the Xbox. This game pushed the limits for PC hardware, and you needed a crazy computer to be able to play this game. It was also revolutionary, due mostly to it's physics engine. It probably has the most realistic physics ever in a game. Seriously, if you, for example, shoot something that supporting something else on top of it, it will be destroyed and the things it was supporting will fall and be destroyed in a realistic manner.

There are too many of these types of situations in this game to mention. The thing that most utilises the physics is the gravity gun. It has two standard types of attack, lift and shoot. The shoot function is put to the R trigger, and will blast an object pretty far across the area. The lift function allows you to drag an object toward you, and lifts it off the ground. Once you lift it up, you can use the shoot function to blast it forward in any direction you want, which is just unbelievably awesome.

Literally everything in the game can be used as a weapon, due to the gravity gun. You can lift up tables, and shoot them at your enemies. You can do the same with crates, steel fences, and bombs. Also, in parts with the zombies, you can lift up sawblades, and shoot them at the zombies, and the zombie's top half will fly in the air! If i had to describe the gravity gun in one word, it would have to be "incredible".

The game is probably the flat out most realistic game ever. For one reason, the game has NO cutscenes. Any moment there is a situation that could be a cutscene, you still have full control over Gordon Freeman (the main character). You can do anything during these situations. You dont even have to pay attention to it, you could just walk around the room, goofing around with the environment. The game also has very good voiceovers. Basiclly everything in the game acts very realistic.

Of course, there are more guns than just the gravity gun. There is the standard pistol, an SMG, and the good old shotgun. There is also a very cool rocket launcher with a very unique function. Once you shoot a rocket, you can move it by moving around the cursor. The rocket launcher has a very precise laser for aiming. You can move the laser while the rocket is moving, and it will change direction toward the laser. It will make more sense if you play the game.

The game has some pretty epic shootouts once you get teammates. My personal favorite is the part where you fight the 3+ striders (the giant walker robots) after you get out of the large dome-like building that shoots a laser to try to keep you out. You'll be running for cover and rocket ammo as the giant striders shoot at you, and there will be rockets flying everywhere toward the striders, these rockets being shot by your teammates. Just about every shootout in this game is epic.

There are also vehicles. Some of the chapters are dedicated to getting across a very long area with a vehicle. These chapers include "water hazard" and "highway 17". The game also has a boss battle (at the end of "water hazard") where you use the turret mounted on the boat to destroy a helicopter. This battle is, of course, epic.

Unfortunately, there are two major problems between the Xbox and PC versions. The first problem, the Xbox version's framerate. Believe me, it is most definitely acceptable, but it can get pretty buggy at times. The second problem, no multiplayer. The PC version is packaged with Counter Strike Source. The Xbox version is not.

The Xbox version of this game also dosent have the incredible visuals the PC version did. However, the Xbox version does still have incredible visuals, for the Xbox. This game does seriously rock, and this was definitely a successful port.
