Half as long. Twice as fun.

Episode Two takes you on a thrilling ride, the ultimate goal of which is to deliver a data stick containing vital information to the resistance before the Combine open a great big portal to their homeworld at the ruins of the Citadel. You will see the unnatural storm raging above the remains of the Combine's fortress early on in the game, and it will stay in the background most of the time, reminding you that the clock is ticking. The game introduces some challenging new enemies - the Combine Hunter and the antlion worker. One of the former almost kills Alyx as a way of introducing itself, and in order to save her life you will have to descend into the magnificent antlion caverns to retrieve a certain substance that the Vortigaunts, who will be assisting you, will need to heal her. This will involve fighting lots of antlions, including the annoying workers that fly around and spit acid at you from a distance, as well as running away from the antlion guard (whom you eventually get to kill, though). After Alyx is healed, you'll have to fight your way through some zombies and solve the biggest physics puzzle in the series to retrieve the car you'll be using for the rest of the game. The ride that follows will take you through peaceful woods and not-so-peaceful settlements where you will face a variety of challenging encounters, including a chopper chase and a run-in with an Advisor. The most fun part of the game, however, is the final battle, where you will have to defend the rebel base against waves of Striders using a new weapon called the Magnusson device. You'll need both your aim and your driving skills, because you'll have to move quickly over a large wooded area and run down those pesky Hunters. The game ends with a cliffhanger that will definitely leave you craving for more.
