Short, but satisfying

User Rating: 9.4 | Gunstar Super Heroes GBA
I've never played the original Genesis version of Gunstar Super Heroes. But if it's anything like this, maybe I should go find it somewhere. This game is FAST and furious. I don't normally play shooting games, so maybe it just seems fast to me. The only time the game went too slow is when I had to read the storyline parts in between levels. There is no fast forward option to get rid of that. Does anyone really care about the storyline for this game? Other than that though, prepare for nonstop action. The graphics are excellent. They are probably the best I've ever seen on the GBA. Everything is colorful, rich, and vibrant. Even the menu screen looks pretty darn good. I have no complaints about anything here. The sound is equally as pleasing. I don't see what else they could have improved upon in this area. The music is engaging and sets you up for the heat of the battle. The sound effects are perfect. Even the small voice samples sound pretty good. The control is as simple as it gets. Just hold down the shooting button and use the directional pad to control the aim. The shooting isn't just restricted to what's in front of you. You can go diagonal, up, and down as well. Everything is responsive. If you die, it won't be because of the controls. Most importantly though, this game is fun. Even if you aren't good at shooter type games, there is an easy skill level option which should be easy enough for most average or casual gamers. The only complaint out there probably will be that it's a short game. Most will finish this in a couple of hours. I mainly played in short 20 minute or so stretches, so I eventually got done in a couple of weeks. I found this game new for $9.99. So if you get a good price, by all means get it.
