Super, but not quite what I was looking for.

When you play this game two things will simultanously happen. First you will be absolutly blown away but what Treasure has managed to do with the GameBoy Advanced. This will further anyone's belief that 2D gaming was killed in its prime, years before it should have been. However, what you will also notice is that this game is nowhere near as good as the orginal. First off it lacks the depth of the multi-weapon system. Secondly, the levels feel very striaght forward, with very little enemy action. Treasure has turned this from a Metal Slug killer into a typical Treasure Boss Battle Adventure Extrodinare. In that respect it wins with flying colors. Black's Casino is a millions times better then the orginal, with many more bosses. However, things like Pink and Green's levels feel empty and incomplete. The game also leans on the crutch of the flying level to much. There is a random level that is set up as a top down scrolling shooter, an odd change of pace that feels completly in appropriate for this game. However, it is still a very good buy and worth it for any fans of the old Genny game, just don't expect this to top the orginal.
