A revolutionary masterpiece. Read my story to see why it deserves a perfect score.
When I first played it, I immediately had fun. Even though it was on easy, the set list was amazing and the songs clearly matched my taste. The game has an undeniable charm; when I played it, my friends and family could not resist the urge to try at least one song. Just ONE song was enough to suck them into the guitar hero world.
A few months go by, and I became better. I went on to hard mode and developed a lot of guitar moves along the way which included the windmill, the duck walk and a lot of headbanging (but nothing extreme, like setting the guitar peripheral on fire). When I finally became an expert player, I would sometimes perform in front of friends and such. It wasn't about showing off, it's just that the music was too great to just stand still and strum. I HAD to dance, I HAD to jump because it was THAT much fun. Getting a high score didn't matter to me, it was about having a good time.
I really feel sorry for those who judge the game as a waste of time and say that all those hours should be spent on a real guitar. Well, what about the people that don't necessarily HAVE the time? It's great just to pick up a guitar and, in your head, be able to play the solo of Bark at the Moon. Why play GTA, when you could just do crime in the real world? Why play SOCOM, when you could just join the navy? It's your choice if you want to bicker alone while your friends are having a great time, but I have to say you're missing out.
I'm not embarrassed to say Guitar Hero did make an influence on my musical tastes. Nothing is the sole influence of anything, but I guess you could say this game was the final push into my favorite genre of music. If you want to experience what it's like to perform to a cheering crowd, while you dance and strum to the rhythm until you sweat, pick up this game.
Because there really is a guitar hero in all of us.
