Now you can REALLY shred with your friends!! Guitar Hero is back and smoking!!

User Rating: 9.6 | Guitar Hero II PS2
Guitar Hero rocked you. Guitar Hero II rocks you even harder!!

THE GOOD :

Song Count - 66 total (40 in career, 26 unlockable) New Guitars, Paint Schemes, and Venues

New Guitarists - Yep, a couple new shredders to play with.

Outfits - You can buy extra outfits for each character.

Encore Mode - Say a list has 5 songs and you need 4 to advance (open new list). When you complete the 4th song, the crowd will yell for an encore and encourage you to play the 5th song. Sure, it's not to fancy, but it just feel right for the game.

Multiple Tracks - Every song has 2 - 3 tracks. The tracks are Lead, Rythym, and Bass. While you MUST play lead on Career mode, in the other modes you can select which track to play. This plays into the Multiplayer too.

Enhanced Stats - Each song is broken into segments (see Training) and you are shown a breakdown percentage of each section to see where you messed up. There is also a total notes hit counter as well.

Training Mode - Major cool addition here. Each song is broken into 'segments'. There tend to be 10+ segments per song. You can practice the whole song or ANY section. You can also chose between 4 speeds (Normal, Slow, Slower, & Slowest). I cannot stress how nice this is. Talk about the perfect way to learn the up/down stroke & hammer ons/offs. You can also practice the different tracks for each song (Lead, Rythym, & Bass).

Enhanced Multiplayer - Yes, now you can BOTH play at the same time (as opposed to alternating back and forth). One person plays Lead, the other plays Rythym or Bass (depending on what is available). This just makes you feel like you guys are in a band. Very fun! There is also an unlockable where you both play the same track at the same time, thus playing head to head. THE BAD:

Vocal Quality - Some of the vocals are not as solid as GH, but to be fair, GH2 has a lot more top notch songs. While some of the songs might sound a little off, it is still neat because it makes you feel more like a cover band. Multi-Player Career Mode - This would have been neat to have. As it stands, you must unlock all but the first 8-10 songs before you can use them in multiplayer.
