User Rating: 7.5 | Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s PS2
Guitar Hero: Rocks The 80's is the third Guitar Hero game by Harmonix and it's a bit of a disappointment. The game retails for 50 dollars and it feels very rushed. It has the same characters, guitars, skins, and venues as Guitar Hero 2. They even took a venue out of the game. Even the menu's are the same. They just tried to look the game a bit more 80's by making everything look like neon.

The awesome gameplay from Guitar Hero 1 and 2 is still there but you only have 30 songs to play, half as much as Guitar Hero 2. That's a bit of a rip-off because you can buy Guitar Hero 2 for the same price. But if you are a fan you probably will have a good time adjusting to it and begin to liek the songs.

There aren't any Bonus songs at all. Not even one little song. If there was bonus songs, it would have helped this game out alot. That makes gamer's feel really ripped off, it wouldn't be that hard to through some in.

You'll love the tracklist if your a fan of 80's music or even grew up in the 80's. There's Dio, Poison, Iron Maiden, Ratt, Quiet Riot, Skid Row, The Scorpions, The Police, Antrax, and Accept. All ther songs by these bands are really good and mostly fun to play.

They are some lame songs in the game though. They have the Go Go's and Flock of Seagulls. Not the best songs but they are still fun to play. But, you don't really wan to be seen playing a Go-Go song, do you?

The song "18 and life" by Skid Row has the worst cover of Sebastien Bach's (Skid Row's Singer) singing. It sounds nothing like him. The Hardest song would have to be the last song "Play with me" has to be the hardest song in the game. The closest thing to Jordan but it's still easy. Rock's the 80's is also the easiest Guitar hero game. It would have been cool if they added alittle challenge. The graphics are the same in this game as the other's but with more neon and more brighter colors. They also gave each character new outfits, and for some reason the Grim Reaper is wearing 3D glasses. The sound is pretty good. The Song's sound pretty good, even though some of they cover's are really bad. The effects sound good in the game too. But the sound's nothing special.

The value in Rocks the 80's good, but you can beat the game in a afternoon or even less. You will go back to play the songs after you beat it but it doesn't feel like Guitar Hero 2's value. Rocks the 80's just doesn't feel new. It feels like a Guitar Hero 2 expansion for a overpriced price.

The same co-op and multiplayer modes are back and they still are fun to play. Any Guitar hero game is fun to play with people and your friends including this one. You will probably get bored of it after awhile but when it lasts it is awesome.

I wouldn't recommend it as your first Guitar hero game if your new to the franchise, i'd say go with Guitar Hero 2 over this. It has double the songs and more of an experience. If your a Big Guitar hero fan and have an extra 50 bucks you'll enjoy this game for awhile. You can beat it in 2 or 3 hours though. But, if you love the Guitar Hero games then this would be a very enjoyable game for you.
