Man nobody ever played the mesmer in the first game! :P Looks like there really upgrading the class to make it actually worthwhile to play as because the mesmer sucked in the first game. :P

Here's a trailer spotlighting the Mesmer class in Guild Wars 2.
Damn some G@y looking patchwerks, a G@y looking tauren, some G@ys wanted to act like hunter, and in finally a G@Y butterflyshit Warrior. the most G@y game ever.
well i played it this weekend and i wasnt jumping out of my seat over the game. Not like i was for Tor. But i will say this the game play is good the graphics are on par with Tera online [ better even ] and the fighting is some what like tera you can dodge L / R / F / B. There is also a move that allows you to call for help when your dying... but mobs in general most of the time will kill before you can get a rez. Loved the engineer class .. didnt like the gladiator / thief to much. And the Events [random spawns ]in that game are some what like rift.. bunch of mobs wave after wave then a boss.. but the mobs levels increase sometimes when the new wave coems.. and in newb zones respawn gets used alot. All in All a solid game for f2p.. The way people are crying about paying for a game now a days gw2 should have a solid fan base of non subscribers. Didnt pvp but i heard it wasnt great from someone who did it for over 2hr straight... matches were unbalanced like 5 on 1 stuff like that.. but am guessing they didnt have everything in like the full game will have. Like i said.. a solid game IMHO [ for a free game ] some what like diablo3 to me. /grain of salt... beta test it for yourself and decide.
This game is going to be amazing. i am going to be a charr engineer, i can't wait any longer for it. there is a 50/50 chance i might go insane waiting for release lmao.
Vizaku, you make a good point. I had (and somewhat still do) but over the years have been so disapointed with "new" online games. I guess we will see at release. Game till you bleed!
@kram590 i can understand your apprehension. it is "free to play" but only in terms of monthly subscription. you still have to pay for the actual game, and expansions and extras etc. as an origional guild wars player i can say as soon as this comes out its good bye social life.
I have been playing online games (I'm not very good but always had fun) since I beta tested the first game Meridian59 then moved on to EQ then to DaoC. Ether I lost intrest to online gaming or you just can't go back and recapture the old days. I thought this one might draw me back. But now my gut is telling me not so much... NCsoft? Basic rule of thumb. You get what you pay for. Free to play is a invite for little kids with no jobs. Sad. Hope I am wrong
I guess the lot of people who comment on this fail to realize gamespot took 5 skill showing videos found on GW2's site and meshed them together, then called it the mesmer trailer. If you want mesmer gameplay, check youtube videos on mesmer gameplay. If you want a good grasp on how the game is going to be then check out other sources, honestly gamespot is not the best there is. After playing numerous mmos, (wow, FFXI, SWTOR, including various F2P) GW2 is shaping to be a more immersive mmorpg than any of the others included. Not to mention i have been waiting for another MMO that included an ongoing war of sides (WvW) that included a large map with it's own living breathing system.
I understood the giant thought they vanished, but why did he kept walking away while they pummelled him with shots.
this trailer is so lame, makes the game seem like it gonna be lamer then SWTOR turned out.
This may have been cutting edge online game play 5 years ago, but now it just looks out dated.
This game looks dumb. Almost looks like they're putting a Final Fantasy type spin on it, and the combat looks really lame. Isn't this by NCSoft? They always seem to take popular concepts and carry them out in really lousy ways.
@ GR3YTHUNDER I remember plenty of dungeons in eotn that were challenging and if you played on hard mode without using certain builds it was more than challenging enough. There was plenty challenge if you searched for it, and if you didnt find it in PVE you could find it in PVP. Though thats just my personal take.
This trailer looks good. This might even compete with WoW or Starwars, and its got no fee, as the game I play most when it arrives. One of the things they need to do though is up the challenge level, and make missions that are near impossible to complete, unless you have the right team. Thats the issue with the original GuildWars, its plain and simple too easy a game.
I think what the developers were trying to show with this class was that, no matter your race/gender, the mesmer class is good for solo or party fights.
not to trying to take anything away from this trailer, but all that hype and secrecy for a mesmer class? Talk about failure to excite. You'd think they would save the engineer for last or something seeing as Mesmer was already in gw1
The last mesmer...EPIC! Still waiting for the date when my life will be sucked into the computer.
All the mesmers basically did the same thing - they all used illusions or phantasms to provide cover and support, except the last one who did some weird transportation thingy.
It's cool that the mesmer is getting a development that he/she deserves. In GW, the mesmer was the least played char because the skills it got were complex and moslty unnecesary. I think we can expect some clever and intens battles when there are some mesmers on the background.
I've always loved GW/GW2's designs & graphics, so this isn't exactly a surprise to me, but I still gotta say this: Dude, GW2's modeling, texturing & animation is so good, they simply don't need any pre-rendered CGI trailer! But no, this isn't a knock on SW:TOR. I was also invited very early on as a tester. And though its in-game graphics ain't exactly award-winning, their CGI trailers certainly are. Even heard some rumors that even grandaddy Lucas was impressed.
"BlackJakal Posted Dec 15, 2011 9:25 pm GMT why would you EVER play this over TOR??" -because it has no monthly fee? :D no but in all seriousness SWTOR is an awesome game (got invited to the beta) and all those expecting a Kotor game will get exactly that and more. but GW2 has its own unique thing going on, and it is setting itself apart as much as it can from the conventions established by the genre, and thats a good thing. PS I was a little disappointed that the last profession was the mesmer (all the suspense built up) but by the video I can tell that the new mesmer will sport some really interesting tricks, it might worth giving it a chance.
this just means we are getting closer to release people! great profession from a great dev team, keep it up.
Love the WoW ad at the start of my video. Heaps happy to see the Mes make it into GW2; it was the most original class in the first game and should be awesome in the second.
I KNEW the Mesmer had to be the last class! Too many people would be upset if they dropped it and they are a vital part to enemy distractions and misdirections. I found playing GW1 as a Mesmer fun and challenging since you have to calculate and anticipate what your enemy would do, and so I'm looking forward to this one with all the new skills and abilities!
If this is anything close to what the gameplay is going to be like, than I can't wait for this game. Looks very innovative and very fun!
I started playing WoW as a Warlock and when I bought the original Guild Wars, I wanted a debuff class similar to my Warlock. And Mesmer not only lived up to the expectations, it was the biggest surprise for me as a class. A very original profession. I will miss my Elementalist-Mesmer though!
