2 Like I played the BETA for this game quite a bit and from what I've seen, it's good, but not as good as everyone has been saying. But it was just a BETA, so probably will only get better.

1 Like @VexxRed Maybe the hype is high, i purchased the game, tested all the ithe beta i could test..... above all mmo i tested recently(from rusty hearts, swtor all betas, secret world and so on.. a lot more indeed, so if you gamespot r listening i'd love to work as game tester ;D but now i'm only a programmer ) and seen that i'm a really really exigent gamer ... i can say without any doubt that the hype areound gw2 is justified byt the game.
Game mechanics are solid(even in beta) , single player content is not opressive, open world and interactions are just great. Sound system is a work in progress due to some glitches in game huge fights and some speechs ...
Dear vexx u cannot define this game ase "crappy" ... i'm not willing to offend you, you do that just fine by yourself .
If u do not like mmo's simply say "i do not like", or better do not post or play the games u do not like.
For what i have seen this game is based around "the player", no time loss due to traveling(fast travel rocks!), no time loss searching for a party.GW2 is difficult game where u cannot solo events, and you are forced to cooperate with gamers(as an mmo should be MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER)..... and in addiction skill management, related to weapons) is just great.
This is the first mmo where i can feel free, to play, encouter people, ask for aid, and so on. In there you spend you time playing, not wandering around looking for she shortest route, or wasting time looking for parties or looking people watching u dieing so that you leave the zone to them.
Level balancing avoid higher player to waste lower players gaming, and add to higher player a "constant degree of action" ( THIS IS MY SENTENCE DO NOT STEAL IT :D ).
So no panda's, no toons, just Massive Multiplayers Overwhelming blood and gore in gw2 game experience ... that is it :D

I'm not bashing the game i just don't want to get my hopes up because of hype that fan boys are giving it. Why is it that any time someone wants play devils advocate about a hyped game the fan boys rush to badger them? Also learn to read Mr. Programmer. I didnt say it was a crappy game. I think it will be better to pass on this misunderstandiing.
ANd now i'm asking u: "have u tried the beta?" i did ... i was totally blown away :D And i think that this time fanboys are justified by the game. As i said i tried the beta, and i did a thing i never did b4. I pre oredered the game without even a trial... i was very very very nervous about that.... but after the first beta i was totallyhappy with my decision :D

The_Goodz you're kidding me right ? ncsoft is a South korean based company. It's one of the reasons why this game is free.
@hks2iu7000v Yeah, what sumdood said. There's a difference between publishers and developers. NCSoft is a publisher, they don't create the games, they market and distribute them. Arenanet develops the game. It's like SEGA now, they mostly only publish games now.
@Piquet75 nope, it's an american developer published by a south korean publisher. However it was founded by ex-blizzard vets who played a large role in developing battlenet. It also has an incredible art team headed by some masterful digital painters.
I've seen much better gameplay footage of this game on YouTube, including TotalBiscuit's somewhat in-depth videos. The game looks a lot better in action than this sorry trailer depicts.
@RobertBowen Yea it's totally action, and u need a good team to play, you life wont last longer as u get hit.... so u need support and ranged classes as well as infantry (warriors and guardians) :D

@simon1812 12-12-12 is the official release date if i'm not wrong.
I apreciate the beta is starting 6 months before lauch so they have time to fix the game before lauch, not as swtor's beta that was only a showcase of the game.
Well, I did some homework, and GW2 does seem interesting. I especially like that, like the first one, it's not gonna have a monthly subscription. It makes it feel like less of a commitment. That alone makes me wanna cancel my EVE and SWTOR accounts... almost. I also like that it's going to be a persistent world, as opposed to an instanced one like GW1. I won't do the beta, but i may purchase when it releases. What I do NOT care for is the weird, kinda eastern looking art style- all the characters look like they came out of Demon/Dark Souls. It's irritating, but minor. Still, may have to get it.
@monstachruck :D a cuple of hints :
- no boring travls between areas you have a fast travel system similar to fallout
- no death->respawn as ghost->travel to you body, if you fall u have a chance to fight for your life, u simply fell on the ground and u cna still try to avoid death.
- huge aoe skills, and combos, yes skills can be combined between al classes to deal more damage or more healing or more stunnings and gain more exp
- single player story is not opressive
- graphis is very good
- massive battles anc constant events in almost alla the areas of the map(that u can reach in 1 click)
- good crafting systema/professions based upopn mincraft system
- as u said no monthly fee just by the game and play.
And theese are only a few perks of this game... i'm waiting the next beta week end to test pvp system .....
@jojocoolio well after watching that it was a small teaser trailer , the very first part showing cross class combo (i believe ele fire wall with the bow user shooting through it igniting their arrows on fire for more damage) , other parts looked like WvW or whatever the mass pvp thing is , mind you im not in any beta nor have been , i just pay attention to everyting ive seen on the guildwars2 site.
@monstachruck Your question is hard to answer without knowing what you already know. If you just have no interest in the genre, then it simply might not be the game for you. If you are, in fact, a fan of the genre, and you are tired of the traditional format of WoW (or reasonable facsimile), then I suggest finding out why this game is highly anticipated. There's a bevy of information... like everywhere; just google it. If you've already done all of that, and still don't see the appeal, then it's probably just not your game. The same way that I don't really get into CoD/Battlefield. No biggie; different strokes for different folks.

This commercial actual changed my curisoity about the game. Once again, I'm reminded that MMORPG's will never be as exciting as a well made, solid, fluent RPG.

WTF!!! Is this the coverage GAMESPOT does to GUILD WARS 2??? You guys should spot promoting the games that pay you and start covering the games community really CARES ABOUT! like GW2
@Lonegunmanpt Gamespot didn't make the video.. it blew on it's own. Also, GS did live streams of the GW2 beta for like 8 hours, that's plenty of coverage.
