Honestly I was not fully convinced during the development that this would be the MMO for me. I was very stoked for Star Wars The Old Republic, which was a major disappointment for me personally. Because of it's very linear and theme park MMO nature, whilst what I loved in Lord of The Rings Online was the vast open world that really gave a sense of grandeur. I missed that in SWTOR and wasn't expecting to come across an MMO who still had somewhat of that sandbox feel.
Guild Wars 2 feels grand and has enough changes to feel fresh whilst still keeping enough familiar game mechanics to really feel like an MMO. I am a very casual gamer and am no where near end game. This game is great when you really enjoy the journey tot lvl 80 more than the usual rushing to the end game content. Because as far as I can tell, if your main focus is raiding and dungeons this might not be the MMO for you.
I'd like to point out though, that according to me, even if you don't like PVP, this is still a complete game in it's own right. I don't feel like I'm missing out because I don't play PVP.
Overall this game will keep me occupied for months to come, on a casual level.
If you are considering to try this game, don't go to the official GW2 forums, because it is flooded with people complaining about things that most players who are playing the game don't really care about. It will throw you off the fantastic game this really is.
One last piece of advice: for your first character choose human, I feel like the human capital is the most impressive starting zone and as such makes for a great start :-)

Good game, first developer in ages willing to break the MMO mold, but lacking in end game content.

Guild Wars 2 is the MMORPG a lot of people have been waiting for. A very welcome refresh on the genre.
