It's a trap! IT'S A TRAP!
Don't think of me wrong, Guild Wars 2 is a good game. The character creation is awesomely interesting (i love the Sylvari), the artistic layer of the game is great, the graphics are cute and detailed and i love when at the end of the cinematic says "And This is My Story". Love it!. The game is also pretty polished, its running great, the gameplay is good and the mechanics as well. But, it doesn't deserves that kind of hype. And by the way, i won't say "congratz" for the non-subscribtion model, because i don't believe in it. Also, i can't say anything negative about the PvP, but for the starters, you're getting a little bit lost in the beginning. But it's cool, not lot of MMOs are having a nice PvP sector; really nice PvP sector. And the ability system is nice. I can play very easily with that and i like it.
Now, the cons. The cutscenes and the voice acting is pretty much terrible, at least compared to The Secret World's. The questing is terrible as well. Pretty much the same thing we're seeing in most of the MMOs. I stopped playing TERA, which is an amazingly beautiful game, because of its boring quests. BORING. I'm bored… And the instances are boring. Generally the main quest is boring. PvE is meh. Actually there is nothing intresting to do. And i'm even bored to walk. Where are the mounts? The game could have had some incredible mounts instead of these stupid, money eater, waypoints. Even the nearby events are pointless. And i don't care about "My story", your story, instances, whatever. I want intresting stuff. The Secret World is awesome. I could pleasure myself with its amazing quests, the incredibly engaging voice acting and the great visuals. Plus, the whole Illuminati conspiracy stuff. But to be fair, at Guild Wars 2, your character at least talks. In TSW you're like wearing a Bane's mask, but you can't talk at all. You can actually become an Illuminati Visionary without even saying one word. Oh, well…
It's a nice game. You can spend some nice, quality time in it, especially with a friend. Most important of all, it's fun, but there is nothing really really special. Sure it does some things right, but 100% it doesn't deserves those scores, this hype and those impressions. EuroGamer Italy gave it 100/100, while it gave TSW 70/100. That should be considered a federal crime.
Should you buy it? Sure, everyone's talking about it. And you don't have toconsider about subscriptions and stuff, you buy it and catch it whenever you like. I'm just saying that the game's good, not great, not awesome, not perfect. It's good. If you like good, well done, you're lucky. But if you're seeking for the perfect MMO (100/100 is perfect, there is no perfect MMO, you listen to me Eurogamer???) its not that one. You'll have to wait. I'll have to wait. I would give it a 7.5/10 if i had to. Nice try ArenaNet, i don't like you, but nice try!. And btw, thumb down for NCsoft . And please note i'm trying to be as objective as i can while i post these things…
Now excuse me, but i have to kill some bad guys @ Battlefield 3. Now, that's a Game!
