Guardian's Crusade is a perfect example of why we continue to play games. It's so simplistic, intuitive, memorable, and, well.... Fun! It's hours and hours of pure gaming bliss that anyone can play and enjoy. The gameplay isn't revolutionary by any means, it's just turn based combat with much more options than your standard, but it's so simple and enjoying to watch that it never gets old. And instead of using "magic" like in so many other games, you summon Living Toys to help you battle. There are so many unique types of these toys and hundreds of combinations to unleash into battle that you have the choice to stay with your normal combination every battle, or experiment and be rewarded with successive hits. Most toys stay in battle as your own party member until they are used up or destroyed, so this allows you to customize your party every battle and change them even during battle. Choice is the flavor of all the battles. Along side your toys and your hero, you have a baby dragon with it's own AI that you can try to command by talking to it in battle. The dragon will respond accordingly by how you have treated it throughout the game, so sometimes it will listen and sometimes it will bash your head. Along with it's own mind, the dragon can transform into certain enemies you have encountered through your 20-40hr journey which adds even more originality to the combat system. The graphics are great for the time and offer a cartoony look with some more adult looking scenery and characters. The overall audio is original and the music is upbeat or moody depending on the scene or place at hand. It sounds like it should. The value is excellent since even after the 20-40 hours one would probably take for completion, there's many sidequests and tons of ne Living Toys you can find to further increase your arsenal and strategy in combat. Overall, this is my favorite game ever, and it'd be hard to find anyone who could hate such a cheerful and terrifically made videogame. Guardian's crusade is the best of the best!
