I am not going to make a long comment, the only thing I want to say is THE RACING GENRE IS GOING TO HELL. There is no driving simulation games worth spending time,There are no racing games even arcade that are into street racing and tunning, and the only thing outhere is cops VS racers an outdated and played out scenario .ITS GOING TO TAKE A COUPLE OF YEARS TO SEE A TRULY MASTERPIECE IN RACING GAMES . GOOD BYE RACING GAMES!

@nick-nikol I thought Split/Second was pretty good and deserved a sequel, but we won't see one because Disney got rid of them At the moment, all I see are too many sim racers and Need For Speed (and it doesn't know what it wants to be). Maybe that's all I see because I'm on the PC - I don't know, but yeah as much as I love racing games, there's not much out there besides going around a track. No matter how dynamic the track is, you are still going around some track in an uninteresting location.

@Pr0ving4Gr0undz - Dude, such a great idea; they totally should! Been playing Blur again quite a bit lately and almost every time I do, I feel bad for Bizzare Creations.

I'm a huge racing/sim driver that only plays while using my G27 and race chair. I signed up with Project Cars a while back, and am happy to say they are doing an amazing job. I love GT5 but lacks a lot graphic's wise due to PS3 not having the power of a gaming PC. Was looking forward to Grid 2, but I can see that this game will not be for me. Really sad to see how bad they dropped the ball on this.

Looks phenomenal.

@flyinknee91  Your comment is concerning! Please for the love of god tell me WTF looks phenomenal about this game?

Grid 1 had unrealistically fast AI and was way too difficult to control any of the vehicles. One of the most frustrating racing games I've ever played. This no doubt will fall into the 'all flash no substance' category.

Psycold

@petez34 They weren't unrealistically fast. It had rubber-band AI meaning that when you get behind they automatically slow down giving you an opportunity to pass, and the same goes for them being able to pass you, ever notice how they always come up on your ass right around the same time? Also, those cars that were super fast that you couldn't keep up with...those were not in your class so you weren't supposed to beat them. Sometimes you can still manage to beat cars out of your class but you can still win the race without doing that.

Kev0069
Kev0069

@petez34 I thoroughly enjoyed the challenging AI in GRID 1, but also thought the controls were quite difficult to master. It did get a bit easier after using an infinite flashback trainer and an Xbox 360 controller for more fidelity. WASD for racing is abysmal.

Nice to see an interview were the player can actually drive well.

They still have time to add a cockpit view, it would be a strange decision and foolish mistake not to add one when so many gamers prefer racing in first person.

I find funny these day's news of arcade games having great physics, while Grand Prix Legends and forth Sierra's Nascar series have acompilished a even more faithful car handling 10+ years ago.

Go for it because the graphics and casual fun (no doubt it does exists), if you want physics, go rFactor2 or even the old RACE07 series...

You dont need cockpit view to enjoy Grid, sure it adds a bit of realism but the controls and the madness online with the damage model and ofcourse the handling, Grid is an amazing ambitous project and its in the hands of one of the best and well resourced Game company's.
No doubt Grid 2 will be a blast to play, even without Cockpit View!

I remember when I was like the only one on gamespot that got excited about the anouncement of Dirt: Showdown, the idea of playing destruction derby races with realistic physics and the level of inmersion that cockpit view gives you was something I was really looking forward, then I learned that it wouldn't have cockpit view and that it would be a lot more arcade-ish... it totally blew it for me.

Now I see on gamespot that Grid 2 is coming and the first thing I see is that it doesn't have cockpit view either and that it is an arcade racer too... well that just sucks.

Let's hope dirt 4 redeems Codemasters.

Someone needs to make another Blur title or remake Burnout 3 (since they wrecked that franchise).  This game looks very boring.  And no 1st person view?  Seriously?  Are they ruining a title before it's even released?

CODEMASTERS, you have lost your way, slowly since Dirt 3, all this Arcade BS and excesive "exhibition" style presentation. CODEMASTERS - we don't need another Need for Speed rubish, driving 300 MPH through cities. When Codemasters still was British, we had proper simulation, remember Colin McRae Rally!?!     Yet another game which emphasizes "pretty" above Substance... I really, really hope I'm wrong about this game and it will turn out great.

I have to agree - no cockpit, no buy. I always use cockpit view for all racing games, both on the 360 and the PC.

It really sucks they didn't add a cockpit view. I will not buy a racing game without it. How am I supposed to feel immersed in a 3rd person view?  It's lame!

... by the way, what is this annoying trend amongst game developers saying "so" a million times during interviews?

The first few times I saw it I ignored it because it was non-native english speakers doing it.. so it doesn't seem to be the case here, so it seems strange when it's someone from the UK saying so.... so so annoying.  It's worse than the "ahhh" and "ummm"s.

No cockpit view. Another great racing franchise got consolized. So I guess there will be no wheel support  either, at least a good one. I guess it will be another racing game to be played with an xbox controler. Ew.

huerito323
huerito323

@jhonMalcovich It has nothing to do with the fact that it is on consoles. Most racing games have cockpit views. At least the most important ones like Forza.

@n2oinferno @jhonMalcovich Real Racing on phones/pads has a cockpit view... so this is arcadey even by phone standards.

Sad, I was looking forward to Grid 2 being better than the first.

@eriktkire @n2oinferno @jhonMalcovich Yea not having a cockpit view is going to prevent me from buying it. That was the only view I used in GRID 1, I hate third person cameras for racing games.

Think I'll definitely get this providing the reviews don't end up being bad. Loved the first so I'm really interested in this. I must admit that taking corners are 90mph is a bit unbelievable though.

@bestfirst @wu_boys Because they're lazy. I won't buy that boring game anyway, Project Cars is 100 times better and is not even finished.

kickingcarpet

This game might be a pass for me, I loved crashing my rally cars in the dirt games and watching them crumple into piles of shit. This has camaros etc. etc. in it and they probably won't have much damage modeling due to the fact that car makers don't want people to see there cars wrecked.

PsV1710
PsV1710

@kickingcarpet You never played Grid 1 right?? i have turn Aston Martins and Lambos to pieces, and my Mustang some times ended with only 2 wheels, and the roof at the same level as the floor. One of the most fun parts of Grid was its amazing damage model, who do you think did Dirt??

sodiumpentathol
sodiumpentathol

So they made it into another race simulator where the realistic parts were removed to give it idiotic, exaggerated action that caters to the unskilled, controller fighting, action junkies..?
Why not try to create an actual, realistic race simulator with realistic damage physics? Too challenging for them??

And removing cockpit view?? Don't they realize that many race fanatics have a wheel and pedals setup for a reason?
