A bit too arcade ish. For a arcade game. But worth a play, unlike Grid.

User Rating: 8 | GRID 2 PC
If you liked Dirt 3, and not necessarily after only rally. Then this might be one to buy. Same good but week graphics. Car design some how missing realism and a driving style that's massively unrealistic, but maybe one of the best in terms of how anyone can play the game but everyone will struggle further on. As a arcader it's very good.

Short falls would have to be:
Car design... Just generally with this engine all the titles seem to lack realism. In comparison to other game titles at the times. Grid 2 is certainly no different.
Lack of things to do... Apart from race. No car improvements, not even a driving mod to change how the game presents your control of the car. Traction control, driver aids etc. but to be fair that's not what Grid is about.
Muffled UI... No track previews when creating custom events, just a close up shot of a car doing a race or a lamp post! Still the slow pass through from scene to scene in the menus, it takes too long to get to other races. But this has been the case long before Grid even.
Very annoying game story... And compulsory videos to sit through, yet they aren't long. Just really lame.

High points:
Map design... Some of these tracks are brilliant, blind corners. Hill climb and decent with very good lateral g effect on your cars. I prefer proper tracks to city tracks but even they are nice places to race. Clear too, you see a corner on this game, not some camouflaged light display you don't notice till you hit it.
Car control... Again I must stress, for a arcade game. It's good, each car feels like the power or drive chain it has. Each car has its own character, but that's not hard when producers are making them up anyway. And the games own handling engine, it's brilliant in Dirt and feels the same here, well created in terms of getting the most out of your joypad skills.
Depth of the race series... A good selection of cars, for the mass market of gamers. But even then they've got some good cars I didn't expect to be racing with. Again tracks. And good progression of difficulty, I play a lot of racing games and Grid 2 gets hard. But do-able even on hard. Very hard is just stupid, A.I. gets too annoying.

All in all, as with most racing titles on the PC. It has a a fair amount of the latest cars, sporty feel good factor cars. Mixed in with brilliant tracks, physics and nice very good environmental effects (to be expected on a dx11 title). All served up in a familiar (yet rubbish) GUI. For £30 it's a maybe buy. But when Steam goes half price again get it while its hot.

Compatibility:
Tridef... Works fine, power3d on and the rest it upto you, around the same framerate with power3d on and off.
