Greg Hastings Paintball 2 Impressions
Shooters don't need to be fatal to be fun.
Paintball might not be outright fatal, but it is still as fierce and action packed as any shooter. Greg Hastings is an expert paintball professional and is once again adding his name to this Super X Studios developed sequel, which is this time being published by Majesco.
Players can take control of Greg or select from nearly over a thousand different real-world paintball players. Up to 10-versus-10 players can go head-to-head online in a single match. Once the teams are picked, players are taken to real-world locations, including arenas in England and forests in America. Matches include traditional paintball elimination and team battles. While the game takes a first-person perspective, players are required to use a cover system, which is much in the vein of Gears of War. Staying in cover, ducking out, and quickly sliding or dashing is the safest strategy to stay protected and get the jump on the enemy team.
While there are the more common paintball rifles, there are also an array of firearms, including pistols, machine guns, explosive grenades, and even massive paint-shooting tanks. These individual guns can be further upgraded by completing matches in Career mode and purchasing upgrades from the game’s shop. Upgrades include ammo cartridges, scopes, and other means to customize your arsenal. Some weapons even make use of real paintball firing mechanics, requiring players to alternate between the right trigger and right shoulder to fire quickly.
Paintball matches aren’t the only rewards to be unlocked. Movies, images, bios of experts, and a full history of the sport can be unlocked by completing more fights and matches. Greg Hastings Paintball 2 excels at not only being a shooting game, but it is also a means to introduce newcomers to the world of paintball.
Greg Hastings Paintball 2 will be available in September 2010 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii.
Graphics look downright terrible, but, if the gameplay is good then that's all that matters I suppose.
Can't wait to try it

I dont care about the graphics man. I mean soldner secret wars is ugly and so is morrowind, Carmegeddon, Delta force, mount&blade, San andreas, doom, H-L and operation flashpoint cold war crisis. Some games just need to be ugly to be good and I play them regulary
I'm looking at the comments and It's a perfect example of whats wrong with videogaming today. People are so caught up with graphics that they forget what is the reason we play videogames in the first place. Fun. If you look at Greg Hastings Tournament Paintball Max'd (http://www.gamespot.com/xbox/action/greghastingsmaxd/index.html) it seemed to be a good game. I watched an video on Youtube where Greg Hastings is showing off the game privately, and the gameplay mechanics looks pretty decent. It obviously won't be a AA game, but going online and having some intense 10v10 battles could be fun. People need to stop judging games based on the graphics and just enjoy games for the gameplay.

No Graphics and paint ball shooting you could play that in real life.
lol this is for ps3? I bet you could get away releasing this for PS2 no one would know the difference
this wud look fun if the grafx werent so bad, maybe they were the 1st ones grafx? i hope so lol because somehow i dont think gameplay will make up for this
they just need to make more shooters teen rated. half the games on the xbox are rated m like this game is rated E+10
I have played enough games to know that this crap of a game is going to bomb big time....maybe if they built a time machine and went back and released it for the atari jaguar now were talkin wait I bet I could play this on my cell phone with these graphics wait game gear lol
To all the people hatn' on the graphics; your all idiots. you don't expect the regular gameplay on ur tv to actually look like that do you? besides i choose gameplay quality of just simply a look at firt glance
the pictures are stopped in game which makes it even more blurry so it's really not that blurry when actually running at a decent frame rate.......lots of games that want to be known for god graphics show gameplay clips at a standstill so everything is crisp.
As mentioned before, the screens are for the Wii version of the game.
@zodiackilla hahahah, right, N64 indeed!
GOOD GOD GUYS THAT'S THE OLD GAME NOT THE NEW ONE. NO NEW SCREENS.
wow I didnt know they still made games for nintendo 64 lol
ide rather watch paint dry lol
This game is akin to imagining yourself masturbating rather than actually masturbating Why would I want to play a game that simulates combat about a game that simulates combat?
Allright...in RL i like paintball...but why would i want to play a paintball game on the computer or console if i can play thousands of other shooters? In RL its exciting to shoot at others with bals that only hurt a bit but won't kill the other. But i can't imagine how it can be thrilling to fire paintballs in a game..it doesn't even hurt you so why play this over a real war game...really...
The first call of duty was better! LOL
OMG I can't watch!!! It's terrible! I think that they could make it better. I think that it will have 5 if they change many things
taking bets on what it will get reviewed!@!@ my bet is on 4.5
They need to take this game and plug the oil leak asap
oh cool, Nintendo still making N64 games?
what year is this ??? 2000 ???? :)).......better play it for real
man, you can easily make a game like this via a MOD using the Unreal Engine....even a half-**s effort will look and probably play better than this. Sometimes what publishers decide to put out there just boggles the mind. That paint-ball gun doesn't even look 3D. Looks like a low-res 2D bitmap with bad alpha channel....
Those screenshots are from the Wii version of the game you can look at Gamespot's page for the game and it will show you.
I remember the first one actually having decent graphics for its time.
why would you even make this crap.
geez, the graphics are terrible even when the screenshot is smaller than the TV screen,..
sounds kinda fun...but those graphics...geez.
what this game was made
this graphics is to such for a new gamer to play
It sounds good... but God... those graphics are horrible...
I played the first Greg Hastings and it was good. But the graphics on this new Greg Hastings and the one from like 5 years ago for the original xbox do not differ on bit. Maybe if there is another on made, they can work on that.
Cheaper tho for sure lol.
@Denji, well it is number 2, so.... I hated the first one though, and feel that what you're saying has merit but you can't go play paintball every day. Still I hate paintball video games though, you should've seen the ones for the PC in the late 90's early 00's. I guess the only thing that I can say for a paintball video game is that maybe they help players form tatics and gameplans? Although paintball is not a tacticians game, at least not speedball. Run up to this airbunker get behind it and throw down paint, real strategic *rolls eyes*. Woodsball is where it's at, where I play there are events as big as 1500 people on each team, the game is an operators wet dream.
WTF?!?! boring..
@ puppeteering It isn't the same thing. Some people can play base ball and basket ball or even football. Some can't. There's franchising and endorsements and the imagination of playing in a professional league. This, is PAINTBALL. Anybody can go out and rent time to do this and just run around pulling a trigger. As Joo_Phish said, It's a simulation of a simulation. It's the exact same thing as making a game about lazer tag! Sorry, but your argument is weak and I'm pretty sure you won't be defending a lazer tag game LOL
A paint ball game? Seriously, what's the point? The whole point of "shooting people" is because you can't do it in real life (for the most part) Hence, why they have simulated bullets and simulated models of real world guns. Paint ball, you can do on your own! What? Pay $60 for this piece of crap? Or pay $60 for you and a few of your friends doing this for real? This doesn't even have a reason to exist and it'll end up in a Walmart bargain bin in a month from release date anyways. Why even waste money making this..??
i dont understand the point of a paintball video game. paintball is sposed to be a fun semi realistic simulation of combat, thats what shooters are supposed to be too. So y the fuk would u make a simulation of a simulation
I agree completely with you...It is much more fun to go and play for real...
Go out and play the real thing, it 10x times better
Im a gameplay over graphics person myself, but while graphics don't really matter all that much to me... I must admit this game looks absolutly terrible. Its one thing for graphics to not be all that great, but for a full price game they can't be terrible either. I generally consider graphics that look more then a half generation old, to be borderline bad... and this game could pass for a late era PS1/N64 game, which is pretty sad. For example, look at that game Breach coming out. Its graphics aren't great, but there not terrible either... and it has an amazing destruction system. A game like that can be great, and doesn't hurt the eyes... but this? It just looks 10 years too old.
Whoops, it's not only for the Wii but 360 and PS3...ouch. Paintball mode in Golden Eye looks more enjoyable than this.
This looks terrible, but it's for the Wii so that explains everything.
they should use team Fortress 2 graphic style instead
wow, looks like battlefield vietnam.i hope this will look better when its released.
erm...paintball on a game console...freindly safe fun,,,on a gameconsole ... speaking as someone who doesnt see the point in safety and none leathality on a game console I shall give this a miss, and I suspect many other will as well
