great concept ruined by bad design and controls leads to a very frustrating experience.

User Rating: 4.5 | GREED - Black Border PC
Got this off of Steam a few days ago because the graphics looked nice and I like these types of games (finished Shadowgrounds Survivor not too long ago).

Played Greed for a few hours and had to uninstall it. This game is an exercise in dealing with frustration. The worst is the control. Whomever thought mapping the shoot key with movement to the same mouse button should be fired (and you can't re-map it). And ontop of that, you can't move while shooting. Thus, the following scenes will play out over and over again until you decide to click the "uninstall' button:

- a group of bad guys coming at you...and since you can't shoot and move, you must run back a few feet to shoot. You target one of the bad guys and start shooting. Then all of a sudden, your attack click registers as a move click, since the target just died. So now your character stops shooting and RUNS into the crowd of bad guys - yeah!

- A bunch of bad guys are running towards you. You try to target them but it's difficult since they are moving. If you miss them by one-pixel, your attack click turns to movement...and you run into them - yeah!

- You're running down a hallway lined with explosive containers. You click on the ground ahead of you to issue movement. However, one of those clicks lands on a container (which you couldn't see since it was off screen), the movement becomes an attack and sets off the explosion...and during that explosion, the key registered as move, and your character runs into the ball of fire....nice! Are we having fun yet?

- by default, you can't shoot your gun unless the target is locked. Why? You have to hold down shift if you want to shoot w/out target lock. Whaaat?

Anyways, the shoot/move problems goes on and on.

Here's a summary:

Pros:

- Nice graphics and effects
- Cheap price if you buy from Steam

Cons:

- Terrible controls
- Battles feel unattached. No feedback from your weapons
- Boring level designs (same art asset used over and over again...just recolored)
- Can't move while shooting; thus you'll spend the entire game running backwards for a bit, shoot, run back more, shoot, rinse and repeat - boring!
- Repetitive game-play for all levels and enemies (see above). There are no strategies at all

This is clearly a case where the art team is much stronger than the design and programming team. What a wasted effort. The art team should quit and go work elsewhere...

Don't buy Greed. Get Shadowgrounds Survivor instead - it's a much better game with great controls and creepy level designs.
