    Big Boss should have gone a lot further.
    -> Solid Snake has been taking on supersecret espionage missions for more than 20 years
    -> Snake has battled big bosses, giant robots, ninjas, traitors, clones, traitor-clones, and secretly saved the world many times over
    -> Snake began his first mission with nothing but a pack of cigarettes, fighting guards who "feel asleep!"

    And Gordon (pathetic)
    Gordon Freeman was one of the few to survive the alien and government attacks on the Black Mesa research facility.
    He has a Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology

    Mario being up there against Gordon Freeman proves JUST how childish gamers are, and how they refuse to let go of their mainstream platform hero.

    Games deserve to be taken more seriously, enough of this nintendo oligarchy!! and while Gordon wouldn't have been my number 1 choice, anything is better than Mario, Cloud, Link or any other humourless cartooy characters who rely on 'cuteness' and the nostalgia of the players who never bothered to explore the vast world of games beyond their console's most dominating franchises
