One of the all time great RPGs.

I remember picking this up for about fifteen quid when i was a kid. It looked like the kind of game i like, with magic, adventure and the like. I put it on, and ever since, when someone asks me what my favourite game is, Grandia comes quickly to mind. Set in an industrial world, Justin and Sue leave the comfort of sleepy Parm to answer the call of adventure. Along the way, fun and friendship become a quest to save the world, and love. Everything about this game, when seen in the context of its time, is perfect. The graphics are good (not the best, but good for what the game is) the story is engrossing (when characters die you will actually care) and the Characters are unforgetable. The battle system is also inivative, with the characters having the ability to cancel enemy moves, or at least delay them. The Magic sysyem gives each character different sets of magic to suit their personality, and the cut scenes fit everything i've said about the rest of the game.
I may be biased about this game, because i loved it so much as a child, but i don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. If you play this game, you have to look at it from that point of view. Basically, if you want a game which holds your hand, where you have a mission, carry it out and move on, with random battles throughout, DO NOT get this game. If, however, you want a classic RPG, with magic and adventure and a world you'll actually want to save, GET THIS GAME.
