Grandia Xtreme has one of the most innovative battle engines when the game came out. Similar to the outstanding Star Ocean battle engines. Like its Grandia predecessor, when in battle, it feels real time because the environment is active, and not boring or stagnant like many other RPGs with a stationary turn-based or even worse you don't see the characters in action. It makes you wonder what kind of people are actually reviewing these games and if they even enjoy RPGs at all to be giving this game such a low score. Grandia Xtreme for me was a delight to play and I wanted more. The nice power-ups and abilities but mostly the battles never felt boring. The other highly ranked RPGs I have since sold but I kept Grandia Xtreme because it was so much fun.
