Difficulty:
Just Right
Time Spent:
100 or More Hours
The Bottom Line:
"Highly addictive"
Overwiew: GTA Vice City expanded on what was good in GTA 3 and this resulted in a better game all around. You play as Tommy Vercitti, a man who is just released from jail and wanting to rejoin the mob. To not attract attention from the police, his mob boss Sonny Forelli sends him down to Vice City so the family can begin participating in the popular drug trade. Upon arriving, Tommy is almost killed when a group of unknown people attack him while he is buying the drugs. Tommy loses the money and the drugs in the middle of the attack and he now has to find the items before Sonny Forelli comes down to Vice City.

Gameplay: The game played in a third person perspective. Vice City is a completely open city for you to explore except for mainland which become open after a hurricane passes. You can steal cars, shoot people, get into huge gun battles with the police, and drive boats and helicopters. This game adds motorcycles and a sea plane to the normally selection of GTA vehicles and adds more boats, cars, and helicopters. There are main missions as well. Normally you will have an option of around two or three missions that you can partake in. However, only one of these missions will progress the story forward and the game doesn't tell you which one is which. This forces you to play all the missions. There also bonus missions like taxi driving and being a vigilante. Once the mainland is open, you can even being to buy property. You will first buy the property, then complete some missions related to the property, and then the property will start to make you money. In one sentence, there is a lot to do in GTA Vice City.

Presentation: GTA Vice City looks better than GTA 3 and is appealing to the eye. However the audio steals the show. The game has a lot of great licensed 80s music and has hilarious radio stations that make me laugh every time I hear them. The game has a stellar line up of celebrity voice actors like Ray Liotta, Burt Renyolds, Gary Busey, and Dennis Hopper. Everbody should play this game. In a side note, the game is very violent and racy so kids ask your mom before you play this one or just torrent it. I don't condone torrenting.
