Frankly its a numbers game; if between now and march, the Wii U sees decent sales, R* will port it... its all about the money..

Could Rockstar be bringing Grand Theft Auto V to Nintendo's Wii U? Johnny investigates the rumours.

@queuing_for_PS4 Yeah, that makes total sense that a console will be a flop because one particular game won't be on it.
The Wii U truly needs GTA V. There is no reason we should not see this game featured on Nintendo's new console.
I can see GTAV working on the Wii U. Chinatown Wars is pretty cool on the DS. Nintendo's gonna NEED games like GTAV in order to reel in alotta the core gamers they alienated with the Wii.
l hope gta five comes out on the wii u which will be capable to support directx 11 as claimed by this website: http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Wii-U-GPGPU-Squashes-Xbox-360-PS3-Capable-DirectX-11-Equivalent-Graphics-47126.html
I wouldn't see this happen, Because
1. The only GTA Game that was sold on the Nintendo Systems was GTA Chinatown Wars and GTA I- IV have never been sold on a Nintendo System
2. Games like; Saints Row, Borderlands, Serious Sam and few more arnt on the Nintendo Systems due to Nintedo Censorship
Nintendo Censorship Details are here
@TURBO-BURNER And let's not forget Manhunt 2.
Naw... I'd wager that games like Saint's Row, Borderlands and Serious Sam aren't on the Wii because they're designed with the PS3/360 hardware in mind. The only reason the Wii didn't have good third party support is because the hardware is practically stuck in the previous generation. And in my opinion, just because Grand Theft Auto has never been on a Nintendo home console before doesn't mean that it will never happen. Besides, they've put games like Mad World (full of hardcore violence and strong language) on the Wii, so you're wrong when it comes to the censorship.
@TURBO-BURNER Wrong, Grand Theft Auto Advance was also out for the GBA. Not that that is an overly violent game, but at the time Nintendo appeared to promote the game rather expressively.
Cant beleive any of the rumors you see on the net about this game. They have all come up big fat goose eggs. Heck, just got take a look at Rockstars own GTA V website, they dont have ANY platforms listed...just TBA. So really looking at that and the screenshots, im thinking Orbis and the 720 before the PS3. 360 or WiiU. Looks like a next gen game.
Despite my "dont care" attitude about the WiiU, primarily because I'm keen on my 360 for the next few years, I have to admit.. This game would be BEST on the WiiU... Just imagine how much you could utilise the touch screen controller for this game?!
don't be fools it will come to pc after 6 months or a year after consoles and it's gonna be the best version
there is a huge reason why they don't go to pc because piracy is higher there then any where combine .
If they're not going to release it for the PC, why the heck not for the Wii U? They've already lost potential revenue from not selling the game to PC gamers anyway.
You know what? I guess rockstar games they realized how stupid they are in making PC gaming place so it will not be for PC,and im glad
@stalker2010 And who said it wasn't coming to PC, you know unlike every main GTA game before it.
@stalker2010 pc totally ruing the gaming experience in my opinion..sitting 1 foot fron the screen tapping on your keyboard, having to install/patch/mod, and msning and youtubing in the background....it's like somebody eating potatoe chips next to you at the movies...
@stalker2010 FU bitch...PC is best thing... ur ps3 and 360 controllers ..sucks... mouse and keyboards... fun to play... just F Off
@stalker2010 What are you talking about?
I wasn't a big fan of the wii but with wii u nintendo seems to be doing everything they can to win back us hardcore gamers. With or without GTA V nintendo has won my respect and my money.
gta on nintendo consoles= disaster.
just look at the numbers for GTA chinatown.
wii1.5 is a joke anyway.
@HiImUPSMan GTA chinatown was by no means a definitive gta experience. The numbers suck because of the game not the platform. And as for wii 1.5 as you call it, remains to be seen but...
It would be a disaster if they release GTA V for Wii U. They would have to lower the game graphics since Wii U does not and will not have better graphics than the next Xbox and PS generation consoles, since Wii U is an improvement of the Wii. Lowering the graphics and having a game on a console that will not give the same experience as it does on PS and Xbox is something Rockstar cant allow.
@Aero07 Epic fucking fail dude.
GTAIV did pretty good on the 360/PS3. GTAV isn't going to be much better.
Just like GTAIII/Vice City/San Andreas were very similar with modest increases each time, expect the same with GTAV from IV.
The big increase came between San Andreas and IV.
Thus if IV was on the 360/PS3, it will be just fine on the Wii U. The Wii U is significantly faster than the 360/PS3. But hey 360/PS3 to dual GTX 690's isn't a generational difference, so you can have significantly faster, and it not be a generational difference.
If people remember correctly, one of the reasons for the poor performance of GTA IV on PC was that it was very much processor dependent. Obviously GPU is a strong factor, but even with a GTX 6XX series now, GTA IV can have some framerate issues at top settings.
Well the Wii U will have 12 threads as it's tri-core has 4 threads per core. Somehow I think this is a plus for the GTA series even if it the overall CPU/GPU package isn't entirely strong. Couple that with the better latencies inherent in consoles and the Wii U will be a good medium end 1080p console for the next five years.
I'm sure the 720/PS4 will be better, but if the specs that are floating around are even remotely true, the Wii U won't be outclassed by most and if you own a recent GPU, you already have a faster graphics card then what will be in the 'not so next gen' next generation consoles.
The gap between Wii U and the PS4/720 will be like 1/4th (or less) of the gap between the Wii and the 360/PS3.
Even if the PS4/720 are somehow significantly faster, the Wii U at 1080/60 will already cut most of the difference out. If it turns out the Wii U has Dx11 or 11.1 type features, that difference will be even less.
As for GTAV, once again the Wii U will be able to run it. I don't see how it doesn't run it better than the 360/PS3 ran GTAIV.
But yeah the PC version will be graphically superior. The Wii U will be 2nd, and the 360/ps3 will be 3rd/4th (in whatever order) in terms of playing GTAV. I doubt they wait until the new 720/PS4 console to release it.
Ok, I'm not entirely sure if you're trolling, or if you're being serious. Assuming that you are indeed being serious, your point about downgrading GTA V for the Wii U is unfounded, and makes absolutely no sense. First off, you don't have to be a Nintendo fan boy to understand that the Wii U isn't an upgrade, or "improvement" of the Wii, but it's an entirely new system. Secondly, the Wii U's specs are higher (not by a huge amount, but still higher), than the current gen consoles (Xbox 360, and PS3), making it just as, if not more, capable of running any game the 360 and PS3 can. Sure, the next Xbox and Playstation are sure to surpass the Wii U, but what the hell does that matter when GTA V will be released on current gen consoles. From a marketing standpoint it would be suicide to release GTA V on next gen. Millions of people around the world already own a current gen console, and waiting to release on current gen consoles would severely cut their consumer base due to the fact that only a fraction of those current gen console owners would own a next gen console. Then to top it off, next gen games are more than likely going to be more expensive to make, and because of it, will be more expensive for the player to purchase.
GTA V may not come to the Wii U, but the reasons for it will have absolutely nothing to do with its hardware.
Gta wont be on the wii u because its not tecnically next gen. it's just innovating on the previous generation: like wii did with ps2, wii u is going to do with ps3, xbox 360. but what i'm saying is if gta put it's brand on wii u, then we all get a gta v on all systems. But when ps4 and xbox 720 comes around (with its rumored: amazing graphics capabilities), the wii u wont be capable in playing the next couple of gta's. So, they (nintendo) would have some rights to grand theft auto franchise, and rockstar would have to dumb down or lower the graphics for wii u players; which wouldn't happen because rockstar wants all their games equal for the consoles they put it out for (hence ps4, xbox 720.), and to not lose money on making seperate copies of the games they put out (and which would make development time much more lengthy in the future). so no, they don't need wii u to make money; because they would be making a lose.
Actually the rumor is that the PS4/720 will role with a modified ATI 6670 (also heard 7750), and a budget processor (probably also modified).
These are the specs floating around. They may mean nothing, or they could be pretty close to what we get.
I wouldn't say the Wii U will have amazing graphics, because it won't. If the the PS4/720 have the rumored specs I've seen, they won't either. In fact, you may already have better gear in your PC.
If you have a GTX670, it is between 200-400 percent faster than a ATI 6670. To see the kind of performance a 6670 has in it, it's a budget part that is about as fast as what the ATI 3850 was when it was considered a good graphics card.
Hey I hope it's revolutionary. I hope it's ahead of time and pushes the bar higher than their PC parts...that innovation helps out PC's as it creates a jump in performance that then they fill in PC parts a year or two later.
But from everything I've seen instead of being 1-3 generations ahead of PC GPU's, which is what the 360/PS3 were, it's looking like the 'not so next gen' next gen consoles will be 3-7 generations behind PC tech (depending on what you're looking at). Hell that's just the GPU. But when the 360/PS3 came out there were no tri-core processors on the market, and the cell has what 8 cores?
Of course we'll see, and maybe it's all a smokescreen. But I really don't like what I've seen from the rumors of the ps4/720. If they are going to make them even remotely as underpowered as the rumor suggest, I hope they just put off the new consoles for a couple more years and allow themselves to put out a cutting edge product that has good specs and is actually a next gen console.
Long story short, if the Wii U is 1/2 a generation above 360/ps3, then from what I've seen as rumors, the 720/PS4 will be more like 2/3-3/4 a generation above 360/ps3. (and really they'd be banking on the better latencies in the design of consoles vs pc's to be pulling most of that weight....not the actual hardware).
Generations are divisions of time, so technically, it really is next-gen.
Ooohhh, GTA V on the Wii U, no way. I am perplexed. Can't possibly believe it. What's next? More Pokemon for the 3DS, Red Dead 2 for PS4/Next Box, more COD? Can't possibly wrap my head around any of that.
"Johnny investigates the rumours" as in "Johnny propagate the rumours". A real journalist would have contacted Rockstar and interview them on the matter.
@dreamgod247 nah, gta wont be on the wii u because its not tecnically next gen. it's just innovating on the previous generation: like wii did with ps2, wii u is going to do with ps3, xbox 360. but what i'm saying is if gta put it's brand on wii u, then we all get a gta v on all systems. But if the 720/ps4 aren't next gen either, then all three will really be in the same boat. Wii U will definitely be the 3rd most powerful of the three, but the difference from the rumored specs seem to indicate it'll be like what's the difference between a GTX 680 and a GTX 560ti? Yes there is a difference and it's measurable. But overall is it that much?
The Wii was significantly underpowered compared to 360/ps3.
It's looking like the Wii U will only slightly be behind the ps4/720. (and alot of that will be because it appears Sony and Microsoft are going relatively cheap on the next generation)
Or better yet all three could be called....This generation....part deux..
@fuginshmit What you just said doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't Rockstar want to take the opportunity to expand it's audience? Also Wii U is more than capable of handling GTA V.
