nice graphics and a big detailed game world... but no love for the hood.

User Rating: 8 | Grand Theft Auto V PS3
graphics dont make a game special... GTA San Andreas got you involved in its story... to the point you cared about what was going to happen to the characters.. in GTA 5 its just not there... for a game that goes back to Los Santos i did expect a lot more hood/gangsta missions against the vagos and balla's and all we got was about 3 missions involving them and they werent all that.

All the extra stuff... golf, tennis, scuba diving, bounty hunting etc... just filler.
Rockstar have failed on the story big time... the whole heist thing aint all that... you choose 1 of 2 options on how to approach a heist... then you collect the stuff you need and carry out the heist.. you do the heist... some good moments but nothing special. You dont care about the characters either... i think the 3 character thing really dents the story... you could enjoy playing as franklin... but then you've done his missions and you gotta switch to one of the others and do theirs. I would have much preferred a deeper story with one character.

the driving is better then GTA 4's but its still not that good... this time you skid too easily around corners... so you have to really break when speeding around
a corner otherwise you'll go spinning and crashing.

the real star of the game is the map itself. Its big.. its detailed and even though its just to keep you occupied for longer the extra stuff to do is nice.. hunting animals, scuba diving, races, triathlons, bounty hunting and much more.. its good but again the story of GTA 5 is just OK... you get together plan a heist collect the stuff and do the heist...

helicopters are a real pain to control seriously... i dont know why rockstar made them like that... planes are good and fun to fly, parachuting is good,
the mini sub is good, most of the side stuff is good, its just the story aint all that and the characters... they feel cliche... got mr tony soprano but hes a bank robber... got franklin that has to make his way outta the hood only there's hardly any hood to get out of... hardly any hood missions and then you got trevor... feels like they just threw him in for the hell of it.. needed a character to take up the country section.

Guns are ok you can customize them same with cars, soundtrack... could have been better there was only like 3 tunes i liked.

Pedestrians when i honked at them they dont move out of the way... kinda stupid..

So here's my scores for each section of the game

graphics: 8/10 (graphics dont make a game special but its nice to have some good graphics)

story: 6.5/10 (get together.. plan a heist, collect the stuff carry out the heist get paid... rinse and repeat, there's a few good missions in there dont get me wrong but... nothing special imo)

characters: 7/10 (very cliche.. hard to care about any of them really, michael and trevor seem like the stronger characters... its like franklin is just there...)

side stuff: 9/10 (tennis, golf, scuba diving, jet ski racing, strip club, movies etc)

game world 9/10 (can feel a bit depressing playing alone after a while but lots of places to explore and very detailed)

soundtrack: 6.5/10 (i expected better.. more radio stations but fewer good tunes this time it seems)

bottom line: there is fun to be had with GTA 5 but if you're looking for that gangsta/hood stuff... its just not in los santos anymore... rockstar got no love for the hood in GTA 5

final score: 8/10 and dont believe the hype... this game is overrated big time.
