As seen in the topic poll from rk_711:
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/634490-grand-theft-auto-v/64748914Most want the next GTA to be set in VC again. I honestly agree.
However i wonder whats your reason for this? Is it because of the Timeline, Location Miami, The whole Scareface feeling? or what?
For me its mostly because of the timeline. I always loved the 80's, the music, the cars, pretty everything. It being in a sunny state is even more awesome to me because it gives it this positive vibe to it.

Nostalgia, feelgood factor etc.
I remember all the warm fuzzies when I picked up my copy. Everything was so new, and colourful, and chatty compared with GTAIII. Tommy was such a great, balls-to-the-wall, bats**t crazy protag you couldn't help but smile while playing.
So yes, mostly nostalgia. No other GTA has re-captured that lovely VC feel for me. RDR is the most recent one that I get all gooey about.
Here's hoping V can revive my GTA fuzzies.

I think rockstar said that they wanted to focus on games set in the present for now on. So theres no point doing Vice city otherwise

Agree with white_rabbit. It's mostly because of the nostalgia factor. GTA III created such a buzz, Vice City was a really hyped game back then, eveybody was waiting for it so much....and it delivered !
It introduced many new features that were not in GTA III and everything about the game was perfect. the story,, the characters, the design, the 80's vibe, the soundtrack, the variety of the missions. It was just a perfect game when it was released.
With that said, I think a new Vice City, set elsewhere than the 80's would feel weird.

1. Because of how great and fun the first Vice City was.
2. Because the 1980s is the greatest decade ever!
3. Because of San Andreas is entitled to a proper overhaul, so is Vice City.

I'd just like to see how vice city has changed since the 80's .
Also, HD sexy beach boobs are always a good thing.

Yup, I'm old and it brings back memories of annoyingly empty streets, fun with Tommy and a chainsaw, a dull flat cityscape, some fun missions like 'Phnom Phen '86' (I think), and enough dayglo neons to send my colourblindness into overdrive. In general a mixed bag, I prefered III and SA from that GTA generation and I'd rather have Moscow or London next. Call me a heretic, idgaf.

That's the 2nd time I've seen idgaf today. Is this a new thing?
And what do I have to be ashamed about? Just relating to that single post, of course.

I've seen idgaf for a while. Not new, just hardly used outside of social networking.
You don't have to be ashamed of anything. Just another user trying to be part of the rat pack by making "Oh you..." comments at your expense.

Huh.
I guess that's what I get for only really using GF as social media.
That reminds me, I need to delete my myspace account. It's been like 4 years since I logged in. Probably mostly fake profiles, at this point.

The location has far more potential than the first game utilized. The deep South has a whole lot for R*'s brand of humor and satire to work with, and still want a moonshine runner turned stock car racer GTA. Caught hauling the lightning in the late 40's and then released for an opportunity to do a time shift buildup of the city and surroundings. Vice City has the proximity to (let's call it) Dantoya Beach, the "new" superspeedway in this late 50's into the 60's setting. Protag tries to go legit into the racing world, but you know those organized crime ties will want a piece. Oldy old cars mixed with fast muscle and sportscars. Plenty of surrounding swamps with dirt and mud roads, small crossroads towns, redneck weapons.

I wrote "for shame" because Delta uses every chance he gets to plug his own topic in an altogether psychologically masturbatory manner.
I wrote it the way I did because I wasn't trying to be a d***.
And "trying to be part of the rat pack?" Seriously man, don't flatter yourself. The notion that you'd even try in a context such as this (i.e. making friends on the
internet) is comical to me.
