Liberty City Stories is a game that is like a summation of all the things GTA fans have enjoyed over past years!

User Rating: 9 | Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Greatest Hits) PSP
Grand Theft Auto series has always been influential when it comes to the Action/Adventure genre. But with Liberty City Stories, Rockstar has proved that blockbuster hits are not only made on consoles. Because LCS on PSP is the game that can easily be called the next revolution in the GTA series.

Because not only does the entire Liberty City, the radio stations is crammed onto the UMD but also that Liberty City Stories is graphically much better than GTA III and maybe even Vice City. There have been many new inclusions in the game besides the old one like taxi, vigilante, pizza boy, paramedic, fire man, hidden packages, rampages.

Some of the new inclusions like SlashTV is an extended version of a certain mission in the game but is a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Avenging Angels is easily one of the best new inclusions. Besides that there are those illegal street races which can be played by visiting certain payphones. Liberty City looks much neater and graphically better than it had looked 4 years ago in GTAIII. However, besides this the game has got a poor storyline and a weak replayability. Toni Cipriani the protagonist has returned to Liberty City from hiding after he had killed a mademan. The story follows how Toni becomes the right hand of Salvatore Leone the Don of the Leone Mafia. There are very few characters that can be recognized from GTA III and hence most of them are new. The replayability value is very less as after you have completed the main story missions in about 20 hours you will be forced to get bored. Even the faulty Stats meter shows 40% completed when you complete the storyline missions.

The Radio Stations are easily one of the best since Vice City. The late 90’s theme suits the atmosphere of Liberty City well. Great soundtracks like ‘Bassmatic’, ‘Funk in time’ and even an international radio station are interesting prospects. The auto targeting system is a boon for the PSP gamers. It immediately on pressing R aims an enemy and hence you can finish off a large gang of enemies with relative ease. However the auto targeting system does come with a few faults. Fighting enemies in close combat always seems impossible with the auto targeting system going haywire. Even when fighting foes with a bunch of pedestrians the auto targeting seems to aim at those pedestrians more often. But it is safe to say that the single analog control for PSP makes the LCS the most comfortable game to control. Driving in vehicles was never ever so easy in GTA than it has been now on PSP.

Grand Theft Auto Liberty City Stories is a great technical achievement that proves that superhit games are now no longer the news for the handhelds. As GTA LCS is sure going to influence a series of other games on handhelds to follow it’s path to success.
