    This game is so awesome, not only because its a well made living world of epic scale with great characters, gameplay and history but also because of all the details or all the jokes in the story line, ads, radio, tv, internet etc.

    Rockstar really is the real thing, I only play other games cause I'm waiting for the next GTA (or similar epic like Red dead) and I often go back to them instead of new games.If Rockstar could release an epic open world game every years, I wouldnt even look for other games lol

    @evilweav 9.5 was the final score of this game originally, before they raised it to a 10. A game receiving a '10' is perfect in Gamespot's review system (at least in 2008).

    @SilverSignal
    "Go play Saints Row if GTA is too good for you."

    Seconded. I don't get all these complaints that IV was 'too serious'. Now, c'mon. You could see the franchise going step by step in this direction since GTA III, it's just that lots of you have all been too excited blowing up helicopters and trying to unlock Hot Coffee to notice.

    That was a chance for games like Saint's Row and Just Cause 2 to shine, and since we *already have them*, there's no need for GTA to step back and lose what makes GTA the franchise it is. Which, by the way, also explains why it insists in US cities, *as it damn well should*. The satire of the United States is an integral part of the GTA experience. It's like the Simpsons, you wouldn't have it any other way.

    I loved the crap out of this game. a 10/10 doesn't mean the game is perfect, it just means there isn't anything inherently wrong with it. judging it by that criteria, a 10 might be a stretch but at least 9.5, especially for 2008.

    This game is still awesome even after owning it on PS3 all this time. it deserves a 15 out of 10 if you ask me. Bring on GTA 5 !

    If it's not perfect, then why was it given a perfect score? :/

    This game is good, very good actually but i think it is far from perfect - some bits are too hard and the "visual quirks" can cripple the game to the point of re-loading which is a pain in the ass when your in the middle of a mission!!
