If you own a PS2, and not have this game, please I'm begging you if you get the chance pick it up right away

User Rating: 10 | Grand Theft Auto III PS2
Grand Theft Auto III lets you lead the life of a criminal in one of the worst cities in America. Liberty City is littered with prostitutes, pimps, drunks, and of course, the police. And when I say police, I mean a lot of them. Every second of the way, there they'll be. GTA breaks the barriers in terms of realism and depth. Not only can you partake in 100 missions, but you can also stray aside from the story to raise some hell in your own sadistic way.

Graphics - 9
The graphics in GTA are truly amazing. The car damage is some of the best ever seen. Playing Driver comes to mind, but much better looking. The real time weather effects are great as well. The rain is a must see effect, whether you buy the game or not. The characters look good, but their faces and head look a little chunky. However, this in turn gives the characters a dark, sinister look. The only downfall graphic wise, is a little bit of pop up and draw in. The draw in is especially noticeable when you are driving at high speeds. It's almost like the processor can't keep up with drawing in the picture. This is soon forgotten and not even noticed after playing the game for a while.

Sound - 10
When driving, you can select from various radio stations offering a wide variety of music. Rockstar even implemented commercials in with the music. The cars' different engine noises are very realistic. You can really hear the difference from a semi-truck and a sport car. One of the best(and probably most funny) sound effects, are the character voices. Everyone in the city speaks. Just try running in to people and hear what they have to say. The prostitutes and drunks are hilarious! When you whip out a gun and shoot somebody, the women shriek at the top of their lungs, and run for cover. You will never get bored of the sound.

Control - 10
Controlling the main character, whether in a car or on foot, is a breeze. There are four different camera angles to choose from: close, mid, far, and the traditional above view. Even when the camera swings in a direction that you don't want, just tap the L1 button to re-center it. It works, and it works well. Driving the cars is very easy. X accelerates, square is brake and reverse, and R1 is handbreak, a skill you will need to master. You can even do drive-by's, which is and awesome plus to the game. Even on foot, the controls are simple, but I won't get in to them.

Gameplay - 10
This game will last for hours. If you want to accomplish EVERYTHING, it will take you 70-90 hours! This is one HUGE game! Side-stepping the story line and creating you own havoc will eat up many hours of your social life. If reeking carnage is your type of game, you must buy it. If you get the chance buy it right away, this game is a classic
