A great racing simulator that PSP can offer. Worth the wait. Give a shot if you can spend some bucks

User Rating: 8 | Gran Turismo: The Real Driving Simulator PSP
I wasn't much found of racing games, specially because I found myself trying to make a turn and in 90% of my tries I ended up bashing my car in some wall and stuff, but when I first played GT on PSX I had and hard yet pleasant experience on racing game, and when I learn about the PSP version of GT(along with other games) I made my decision in buying the portable. Well let's get over with it:

Graphics 9/10: As the cover of the UMD shows for the buyer, the game shows fantastic visuals nearly neat as the PS2 version of GTPrologue. You had amazing light effects(The sunshine were made very bright) also the cars have an spetacular design wich really translates the real models to the simulator. Also the tracks were very well made(some of the most famous in GT series are back, and they were adapted amazingly), with such an hard effort to bring near HD quality game on a portable, is expected that it will suffer from laggy, but the games run smooth on a 60fps without any declining. Also the menus were well made in a stylized fashion looking like an truly top-class car saling scenario.

Sound 8/10: The game's audio were well toned for the psp, of course you can't expect an huge combustion comming from an 20 cm inch console, but you count on a versatile and realistic outcoming from many vehicles, as you could "feel" the push on the engine to it's limit. The game also have a decent musical background, with a nice selection of musics(Pitty that unfortunaly it isn't an great library of it, so unoless you are really focused in the race you will most likely ask if you alread hadn't heard the background music about 15 minutes ago). The sound of clashes, the wheeling and the acceleration are pretty well made, imersing you in this sportcar world.

Gameplay 7,5/10: Don't get it wrong here, the game makes an perfect translation from it's consoles percursors in the somewhat more hardworking analog on PSP, it takes sometime to master the means of turnng and speed controlling in the game (since the designers goals were to simulate an race, not only make a "racing" in a fast paced motion), you got plenty controls over your wheels, and after a couple of times everything becomes intuitive. The AI is nicely balanced and it's divided in ratings from "D" to "S" making a suitable challenge for any pilot without actually playing dumb or just being too overpower. One of the bad aspects in terms of gameplay come in the car dealing, unlike other versions that you just go around to find the model that you wish, the game uses an "dealing-day" policy, wich means that some in-games day, you may (being completely random) visit only a bunch of the famous franchise(For example, during day "X" only FIAT, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Mazda are available), but this is compensated by the fact that it's easier to earn cash, so you have more trouble finding you car than just acumulating resources for it. Also one of the things that is really missing is the License Mode, unfortunaly you no longer takes licenses in this version, instead you get some challenges that earn throphies and with them some bonuses, but this isn't much as fun as taking the test to earn the right to run in some circuits(wich by the way starts all unlocked), wich can be a letdown for some players. The multiplayer aspect, on other hand, it's very well done, not only you can race with you friends via Ad-Hoc but also you can exchange cars making it easier to have what you are looking for in terms of colection, also the frame rate ad-hoc is amazing, being solid as the single player, the only thing that perhaps could have been expanded is the number os possible players, perhaps 6 would be enough, but 4 is bit too little, yet you stll can have as much as fun as it gets.

Replay 7,5/10: Since it's a racing game with many tracks and about 800 cars to be played with, GT offers a nice value in all, however perhaps more extras could be putted(like some tracks to be unlocked, or even some events since it has a in-game day system), but since you will be hunting for cars and it isn't neither difficult neither easy to obtain them, it can pick you for a good sum of hours, also perfecting you records and passing challenges it's quite fun, despite it doesn't take the place of licensing, also playing multiplayer is amazing and really put this game to shine, so it becomes less likely that boredom would hit the player.

Overrall 8/10: Gran Turismo is a great game, that fills many expectations(despite some game flaws as [again] the lack of license that make it's precurssors so fun), and can be an nice add to your collection if you are looking for a good racing SIMULATOR or if you are just fun of cars or just collection, perhaps it's the best to be offered aroun in this terms (saving for Burnout wich has it's own style) and worth the pick since the real tip about this game is to have the maximum of fun that you can get.
