This great game gets the "Greatest Hits" treatment

User Rating: 9 | Gran Turismo 4 PS2
Being a long-time fan of the Gran Turismo series, I have been really pleased with this update.

It's not a whole new game, no. If you're familar with the series, then this is basically the same game underneath a lot of updates.

But for me the updates were really, desperately needed and add exactly what this title was missing.

One of my biggest problems with GT 3 was that there wasn't enough to do.

There wasn't enough tracks and there wasn't enough races. There certainly wasn't much to do besides race on what few tracks were there, either.

Gran Turismo 4 fixes this in a major, major way. There's a ton of added modes, races, competitions and more to the gameplay. Anytime you need a break from the white-knuckled paced races, you can always take a break to cruise tracks around the world and take in the scenery.

The game is flat-out one of the best looking available for the PS 2, as well. This is the only PS 2 game that runs in 1080i high definition and it looks spectacular.

The car selection, for me, was always sort of empty on the American car side.

I'm not really a big-time car fan, but my favorites cars are by far the classic muscle cars and the more famous cars from American history.

For the first time ever, Gran Turismo includes a great many of these cars to race and enjoy.

It's gear-head heaven.

I'd highly recommend this game for race fans. And, if you've grown tired of the Gran Turismo series over the years, or are thinking this isn't that big of a leap over GT 3, then I definitely suggest you check it out.

At it's current $19.99 Greatest Hits pricing you can't beat this for a great racing game!
