Having played both the old point and click and other story related games I have to say this has one of the better narratives. The pacing and voice performance is spot on. The main story is ok but the real power of this game is the information outside of the main story, the details hidden all around. The 90's tidbits, the hidden messages, the situation with the parents, Oscar and the ghost thing and so on. That being said I have to say I was also expecting more. The game does such a job of setting up sort of a haunted house feel and then completely ignores everything and goes for the love story. I felt a bit cheated in a way. It sort of feels like half a game. The love story (which could have been set on a summer day) and the haunted house/exploration game (which is there but only as a way of pacing the story). I would love to see a full game using this type of narrative though; more puzzles, information scattered all over the place (no hand holding), scripted/dynamic events (like the light in the basement going out). Maybe even a couple of characters to talk to but it's not really needed. I wouldn't say it's the best story ever but the execution and pacing is spot on and it's definitely not a wasted evening if you decide to pick it up.
