EA lets slip some new details--and footage of a Moonraker-inspired map--from the upcoming Bond shooter sequel.

There are few names as hallowed in the annals of gaming as GoldenEye, due in large part to the wildly popular multiplayer action the game offered on the Nintendo 64. Now that Electronic Arts is reprising the name with GoldenEye: Rogue Agent, we're pleased to present exclusive new footage of the multiplayer mode from this hotly anticipated sequel.

Rogue Agent's Moonraker level will stay true to the style of the film of the same name. Click the stream option for a larger view.

As this is the 25th anniversary of Moonraker, we've got scenes taken from a map based on that film's shuttle launch facility. The gameplay mode on display here was described to us as being set up in a "king of the hill" fashion, which forces teams to fight it out to secure fuel for their shuttle so that they can ultimately escape the base. The Moonraker map contains a number of areas, including a launch tower, blast chambers, a fuel-control room, and two shuttles. Furthermore (and more enticingly), you'll be able to trigger various death traps scattered around the map. One of these is situated in a conference room located beneath one of the shuttles. When you test-fire the shuttle's engines, you reduce anyone in the room to ashes.

Bond purists will be pleased to know that EA is attempting to adhere to the style of the original film as closely as possible. Indeed, the employment of Sir Ken Adam, the celebrated production designer on numerous 007 films, should considerably help the team's efforts to reach this goal. GoldenEye: Rogue Agent is currently scheduled for release in November, so in the meantime, you'll have to subsist on footage such as this. Stay tuned for more.
