GameSpot's Tom McShea shoots from the hip in this video review of GoldenEye 007 for the Wii
Well, your right smooth81_basic. I've been arguing with aaronfhff123 and he won't even take a hint. Also I've already got this game and played it. My verdict is it's a great game in it's own right. aaronfhff123 should seriously learn many things: blood doesn't always sell, you can't expect a HD remake and "anything but on Wii" mantra is nothing but giving gamers something that not everyone wants to be drawn on.
Alright, to the two guys arguing about this game: I, personally, loved this game. And, yes, I owned the original N64 GoldenEye, as well. Loved it, too. N64 GoldenEye re-invented the FPS on a console. The Wii version, does not. While fun, it is not quite in the same class as the original. Biggest problem with "remaking" this game, it comes down to licensing. Activision owns the rights to make James Bond games. Some Film Company owns the rights to James Bond movies. The film company has priority over the games, and has the stipulation that any James Bond game created, has to be with the current actor portraying Bond. Thus, this remake has Craig, instead of Brosnan. Rare NO LONGER HAS RIGHTS TO BOND. So, it can't be EXACTLY like the original. So, hoping for an HD remake of the original will NEVER happen. This is the next best thing. And modernizing the gameplay, well, that's a smart idea. And, whichever of you two said there's not incentive to going back and replaying the single player campaign, obviously doesn't actually own the game. It has a very similar structure to the original GoldenEye, in that you can play on an "easy" mode - all the way up to "007" mode. Ammo and armor are alot scarcer, AI is smarter, and the objectives are more complex. You should try playing it, before bashing it.
I loved this game but, i don't know, it's exactly the same but(of course with some changes like daniel craig and not pierce brosnan), it's not the same experience when i played the N64 version. I know some people will not agree with me, but that's what i felt when i played the Wii version. I think that, maybe, some games, must not be remade, history is history, but, yeah i respect the fact that some people did not played it and Nintendo (principally Nintendo), wants to remake games, but it's cool to say "Dude, the best FPS ever made was Goldeneye and I played it", like when you grandpa tell you what he did when he was in our age. But there are games like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, that are awesome and make me shut my mouth(except for the videos that helps the player how to complete a dungeon, i still defend that you must finish the games without seeing how to do it and just follow the tips that the game gives to you).
@aaronfhff123 Ok let's just leave it at that. I don't want to go any further so hopefully there may be games that you do really like in the future. Just don't take it too far.
@johnnyauau I dont pray goldeneye will be on every other system than on wii??? Again your assumption are way off(just like your assumptiojn about me hating Zelda when i said nothing of the sort)the truest idiots are so sure of thesmselves. If activisions remake of Goldeneye was superb like the original, I would love it! since its just an okay game with the goldeneye name slapped on it, done by activision, it turned out to be bland....just my opinion.
@aaronfhff123 Well that's the price to pay when you spend your whole time praying that GoldenEye is anything but on Nintendo Wii. Also I'm happy to say you can still chat but your service is now over.
@johnnyaua I have no friends? Strange consideing a "friend" to you is a name on a list of a username on a website. You sound more pathetic every time you type.
@aaronfhff123 You don't have any real friends. All you've got is yourself besides brok and topherfilms. Besides you've already run out of steam and it's now pointless since this game have been released a year ago. So feel free to try and sway people now.
@johnnyauau My list of friends isnt found in a user name because I have REAL friends, not a list of names under a website user name! Read what you said:"Just out of curiousity. Who's your friends backing up your claims? It's normally in a username so you should have a list of friends that you do have that played with the original version."
@aaronfhff123 Just out of curiousity. Who's your friends backing up your claims? It's normally in a username so you should have a list of friends that you do have that played with the original version. Regardless of what you say, what's done is done. After Star Fox Adventures, Rare is moved to Microsoft and despite some VC games for the Wii, now the James Bond licence belongs to Activision so there's no stopping with the direction they are going. Why I know this because I know the gaming history very well.
@aaronfhff123. Are you sure the remake doesn't have extended single player value? Are you just judging it by its cover? You don't own a Wii for crying out loud! Although it's a shame you have to blast the game as garbage, it's still a great game. Even if the N64 is better, it will age in terms of graphics and sound. You really need to keep up to date.
@johnnyaua Even after you beat goldeneye, the single player itself is good enough to keep you playing it againa and again on higher difficulties(it takes a good 30+ hrs to beat goldeneye on the hardest difficulty)the remake of goldeneye doesn't have that, once you beat it its not so great going back. Split screen multiplayer with friends. ragardless of all the wires, is still more fun than Craptivisions goldeneye. Everyone I know who played goldeneye on the n64 agrees with me the n64 one is better. The only people that like the remake are younger kids who grew up with Halo and COD4(aka people who never really played goldeneye 64 who are used to modern fps). If rare would of just kept the liscence and remade it like they did perfect dark(the perfect dark remake is great)than this would of been great.
@johnnyauau if they would of remade goldeneye like they did Ocerina I would have been pleased. instead activision bought the liscence and raped the game. Taking a COD2-like engine and adding Goldeneye inspired levels is a cash grab. I don't believe this was an honest remake, and for those that played the original, we know this was a cash grab by activision. An honest remake would of been as good as or better than the original. And yes I have played this remake, the original is still more fun ragardless of graphics. i play games for gameplay.
@aaronfhff123. Now that you mention it, you don't own a 3DS but it's a good remake with Ocarina of Time but with the graphic and video hints. N64 version (Goldeneye) maybe superior but without access to component cables, it does also look inferior and kind of stagy as well. Even if you unlock everything, the only real downside is that you need friends as there's no bots in multiplayer. As for blood, you should play Left 4 Dead 2 instead.
@johnnyauau I love Ocerina of time? One of my favorite n64 games. WHy did you accuse me of hating that game?
@johnnyauau ROFL your not a troll? Every time I make a comment you have something to say. Now that I have some thumbs down for a comment you act as if I lost something? Lol as you say I "lost the battle", hahaha you truely are pathetic. I feel like your Neumen from siegnfeld following my every move on gamespot. But yea I hate the goldeneye remake, it's my opinion that goldeney on n64 is superior.
@aaronfhff123. If your not a troll I would've sympathize with you. You did win the battle of the blood but you lost the war when it comes to the remade of the game. I mean no one hates Goldeneye for that reason alone. I also did read some more on how the moderator works. I hope in the near future you should just comment on the games you do like and don't bother with what you don't like.
Goddamnit this game was hard, for me anyways. I always get killed while reloading. Damn Sigmus 9 keeps screwing me over .-. . But really good remake.
A game this good should have been remade for ps3 or 360, not wii. Also the original goldeneye going into a level and gunning down enemies was so fun! Now it's boring and stale. You cant paint your enemies chests red with bullets like in the original. You have scripted action sequences that you are forced to play through, the charm of goldneey on n64 is that you can beat any mission however you want and there is no dumb scripted sequences. The guns effects in this game are poor compared to the classic gun sounds of the original or even modern gun sounds of today fps games.
omg i love this game i just picked up the collectors edition with the gold controller pro.The game is great and online is surprisingly great. The new gold pro classic controller has a great new design and feels comfortable even to the biggest sausage fingers.
i have to say this game is a deal breaker for me as far as getting a wii is concerned....it's #1 out of 30 games i want for the system
Just got the game tonight... I've only played multiplayer with my bros so far, but it's been really good! Can't wait to get some time to sink my teeth into the single player campaign!
goldeneye if you like a good shooter with a good storyline to go with it..or DK if u just like to have fun...im not getting dk...
i loved the ending it was awesome.. just wish they wuda put a more enhanced version of the aztec or a level with baren samedi..but overall it was kool online is good too
