Does this remake live up to the GoldenEye name? Yes.

User Rating: 9.5 | GoldenEye 007 WII
The original GoldenEye redefined first-person shooters. This remake isn't quite as revolutionary but it's definitely an awesome shooter with tons of nostalgia for fans of the original.

Lets get some of the negatives out of the way first. During some intense action sequences the frame rate will take a slight hit. And the sounds of gunfire, I feel, could use a little more oomph. The graphics are good. Not horrible, but not amazing either. These negatives are easily overlooked by the amazing gameplay.

The Call of Duty series seems to have set the new standard for FPS games. The one thing from CoD I'm truly grateful for is the iron sights. I've gotten so use to looking down the barrel that it's hard for me to play any older FPS games. Fortunately GoldenEye has this feature. The combat in GoldenEye is great. Whether you go all guns blazing or decide to use stealth, the game provides excellent combat sequences. There are tons of weapons to use and they all feel unique. Destructible environments are cool and always keep you on the move.

The controls are perfect. You can use almost any control scheme available for Wii and customize them anyway you want.

The story is awesome. It's more of a variation of the original than an exact port. The story is altered to fit Daniel Craig's portrayal of Bond. Some levels are different but are just as awesome. The enemies are plentiful and there are a lot of them to shoot.

And of course the multiplayer. Another homage to the Call of Duty series. Multipliers, unlockables, etc. Up to 8 players and the maps are the perfect size. Very fun, very addicting.

Overall, in my opinion, this is the best FPS for Wii. It's an excellent remake of the original. Although, not revolutionary, still an amazing shooter in it's own right.
