Interestingly, I went to a Target tonight, and found that they had slashed the price on this game from $10 to $6, and I chose to purchase this game! Target rarely ever slashes the price of items in their video game clearance bin, so seeing that price reduction was an amazing surprise to me. The only thing that slightly scares me(though I don't think it'll be a big issue in the end), is the fact that several reviews have noted that the controls are not great and can hurt after a while playing the game. What is the best way to readjust the controls, so that they aren't so awkward in this game?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing this game, though I'm very obviously(!) not expecting this game to be as good as say, the N64 Goldeneye. Hope someone can answer my question, and give me the best suggestion of how to adjust the controls to make more less awkward to use in this game.

I didn't wait and paid $10. I regret that, mostly because the game is awful.

No, it's actually pretty common. Pretty much everything on sale at Target undergoes markdown after markdown until it sells but usually it ends up selling before it gets to that point.

The controls will always be kinda awful. The only real way to change the controls is to use buttons instead of stylus for aiming which also has a kind of auto-aim feature when you go into targeting mode (basically if you're pointing somewhere near the enemy the targeting mode will automatically center on that enemy) I guess to compensate for having a less precise aiming system. It almost makes things too easy, though.

The recoil on weapons other than your pistol is horrendous, which makes using the targeting mode useless. In general they're absurdly inaccurate anyway and only good for blind-firing when you're up close to an enemy. The stealth controls and options are pretty much pointless since the enemies die fast anyway. In the original Goldeneye you didn't have all these silly stealth options yet actually needed to move quietly to avoid getting killed. Since the enemies usually don't run after you there's usually cover you can run back behind or something (although they occasionally have grenades which still get you).

Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing this game, though I'm very obviously(!) not expecting this game to be as good as say, the N64 Goldeneye.

It's a remake that bears little resemblance to the original. If you're buying because you liked the original prepare to be massively disappointed. The levels are linear, you don't really have any objectives other than to keep moving and killing enemies, and the enemies basically stand still & shoot at you most of the time. Plus you have all of these characters who talk using actual voice acting yet the character models never open their mouths.

Even the story isn't that much like the original although the basic premise is the same.

I'm not sure how the multiplayer is, though. Maybe that isn't terrible.

Any other posts, to indicate how this game will be? I'll probably try this game within the next few days, or by no later than early next week. Have been working on my PS/PS2/PS3 backlog, as of late instead....

Only prob is that I don't own a Wii, so buying that wouldn't have done much good for myself. Anyway, I finally got around to playing it briefly, and it wasn't too bad. I'm gonna try the button controls next time when I play, since I tried out the stylus controls and didn't care for them much.
