An acceptable re-imagining of one of the greatest games of all time, but plagued by an extremely short campaign.

Just a note before I get started: I played the original when I was six years old, so there is no way I can compare the two. This review is based solely on this game and not what it does better or worse than the original.

James Bond. One of the most iconic figures in show business, as well as many different video games over the years. In the newest rendition of Bond's adventure, we find ourselves in many different settings: the snowy tundra of Russia, a bustling nightclub in Barcelona, and the jungles of Nigeria, just to name a few. Goldeneye 007: Reloaded is a game jam-packed with action and thrills, as well as a Call of Duty-esque multiplayer as well as sort of a "Spec Ops" type game mode.

The single player campaign of Goldeneye 007: Reloaded has a lot going for it, and a lot bringing it down. If you've seen the movie or played the original, there shouldn't be any shock here. From what I understand, it's generally the same concept but has some added content. The gameplay is solid, and has many different weapons and ways to take down your enemies, such as silently subduing them from behind. There are a good mix of levels where stealth is critical and where it is irrelevant, such as silently infiltrating a park in St.Petersburg to investigate, and then trying to shoot your way through guards after you're framed for the death of a nightclub owner and military arms dealer. While this is all very exciting, it is very short-lived. It took me around 5 hours to beat the campaign on the easiest difficulty, and around 7 on the hardest. This coupled with an unexpected, but not surprising plot twist, make the campaign good, but not great.

It is quite difficult to form an opinion on the multiplayer of Goldeneye 007: Reloaded because of the lack of a community. There were a couple of game types where you could find a game eventually, but for the most part the online community is non-existent. From what I played, it is very similar to Call of Duty's multiplayer, with an EXP system and different challenges for completing different tasks, just as getting kills with certain guns or surviving explosions. With that said, I found the multiplayer to be very immersive and engaging, even with the small amount of people playing. One last thing: it might of just been me, but the shotgun is EXTREMELY overpowered. I was getting one-shotted from literally 30 feet away. Sorry but that really bugged me.

Goldeneye 007: Reloaded was an overall fun experience, but a short campaign and run-of-mill graphics plague it from being an amazing single player adventure. The multiplayer, though lacking a community, is engaging and features different challenges that help keep your attention. Personally, I would recommend that you rent this game over buying it, the cons outweigh the pros here.
