Not enough people know about this RPG, which is a shame, since it's one of the best on the GBA.

Many people have not really heard about Golden Sun, and weren't really interested in it, thinking of it as "another RPG." Well, it is just another RPG... Another great RPG. There are only 2 GS games right now. This one and it's sequel, The Lost Age. The plot in this game is that two villains (Menardi and Saturos) are out to light the 4 towers. Doing that will unleash the power of Alchemy, which is said to have brought a downfall in the past which is why it's been sealed away. Though The Wise One sends out Isaac and Garrett, two guys at the age of 17, to stop them. They also have captured Jenna, a friend, and their professor (I'm not perfectly clear on names right now). So you go, chasing around your enemies, trying to stop them.

This game's system is basically like any other classic RPG system. You go around in towns, looking for stuff, resting, that kind of thing. Then you travel on a world map, and then there are random encounters. That is when you monster randomly pops out and you have to fight it. The battle system isn't something totally new. Ofcourse there are some neat stuff in there. Before any attacking is done, you select a command for your character (you will have up to 4 characters). Attack, Psynergy, Djinn, Summon, Item, Defend, or Run. Attack is basically where you jump at the enemy to attack. Psynergy is basically like magic. There are many different kinds of moves. Djinn, also known as elemental spirits, are little creatures that you find, battle, capture, and then use them to help you in battles. Each Djinn has it's own kind of attack that helps you. After you use it, it goes into "Set" mode. Then you can Summon it. The more Djinn you have, the stronger and more summon attacks you'll have. There are 4 kinds of Djinn: Earth, Fire, Wind, and Water. Those are the 4 elements of the game, and each character specializes in one of them. Items you can guess what that does, defend, you just stand there and it slightly boosts your defence, and run, which you can't do in all fights, is, well, you can guess that one too. So this game follows a standard RPG pattern, and if you like that standard RPG pattern, then you'll like this game.

The graphics in this game are very good. In RPGs, you don't expect graphics to be 100% throughout the whole game. On the map and in towns, they look average, which is all you really need. The backgrounds look really good by the way. Though in battle, they clearly did put effort in that. Everything just looks so well. You don't see much 3D on GBA games, but in battles, it is 3D, and it looks very good.

The sound in this game is excellent. All the sound effects are great, the music is awsome, and there just isn't anything to complain about in that department.

The length of this game is your average RPG. It's not short at all, but it's not really long. Though if you like RPGs like this one, you'll be coming back a lot until you beat it. Not every game has to be a party game to be fun in it's own way.

Overall, this is just a great classic style RPG. If you love RPGs, get this game, cause you are missing out. This game does not get the popularity it deserves, there for many RPG fans are missing out on a game that they would love. So be sure to check this game out. I love RPGs, and I'm am so thankful that a friend of mine told me about this game. Cause this is really a great game.
