Back in my early days, SEGA was king of the arcades. This was why I had the Master System instead of the NES, and the Genesis long before I invested in a SNES. I cannot imagine how many quarters I shoved into Golden Axe machines when I'd be at Putt-Putt, but I imagine that ten dollars of the 20 my father always gave me when we got there went to Golden Axe. The Genesis version was stellar, and although it was not an exact arcade translation, it was good enough for me to spend my saved money on. When I first got the game, I invited my best friend over to spend the night so we could play over and over and over again. There's no telling how many times I beat the game. This is one of the best SEGA games of all time, and definitely one of the top five Genesis games. Although the graphics were great for the Genesis and the 16 Bit era, I wish that the 'Magic' special moves had the flare that the arcade version did.
