Golden Axe....Its name brings fear and joy to the minds of many....fear in that once loaded up you will not be doing anything eles other than playing Golden Axe....Joy as you will not be doing anything eles other than playing Golden Axe and going on a killing spree with either:

Gilius Thunderhead a dwarf male from the mines of Wolud, whose twin brother was killed by the soldiers of Death Adder.

Ax Battler a human male looking for revenge for the murder of his mother.

Tyris Flare a human female whose parents were both killed by Death Adder.

These three are the main stay of the game and the story many a day will be spent in there quest to get to the castle where the mighty Death Adder awaits them. He who is wielding the Golden Axe....

The story is a quest to fight through the forces of Death Adder and try and free the king and his daughter. Each of the three fighters lash out with a mix of melee style fighting as well as spells which are powerd by blue poitions these spells are limited to the person using them and how many poitions they have at the time....The male warrior Ax, limited to 4 bars, is able to cast Earth spells. The dwarf Gilius, limited to 3 bars, casts lightning spells and the female warrior Tyris can cast devastating fire magic, but her most powerful spell costs 6 bars.

Not only do the three get weapons and spells but they also get to ride mounts from time to time. The least powerful steed is known as the Cockatrice, which can be used to knock down enemies with a swipe of its tail. The more powerful dragon, which can either shoot fireballs or breathe fire, is found later in the game

Golden Axe has been on many many platorms over the years and here is a list of them:

As you can see it has had many many ports over the years but then it is many peoples fav oldschool game. Golden Axe first came out in December 1989 and as many will agree has stayed near to the kickass we all know and love.

So if you have not played Golden Axe before then shame on you get out there find this game and go beat the crap out of Death Adder.
