When 3D game technology was the hot new thing, there were not many 2D games being released at all. So possibly as a compromise the 2.5D game was created. It utilized 3D graphics, but the game played out as if it was 2D. Goemon's Great Adventure is one of these games.

When I see reviews of this game everyone says it's easy but I think this game is really hard! It is very fast, and there is a surprising amount of gravity for a platformer. I kind of wish that you're characters had better jumping skills.

With that out of the way, I basically like everything else. The gameplay is still definitely fun and the controls are responsive. In addition to the normal levels, there is a town in every island. The music can be a bit cheesy, but overall I really like it. The graphics are typical N64.

This game has been hard to write a review for, I can't really talk about the gameplay much. I guess that means the game is quite standard. Standard, but well executed and fan. Recommended overall.
