As an entry into the Godzilla franchise, this is regarded as one of the worst.

As a devout fan of Godzilla, it was my duty to purchase every game in the series. In this case, it left a rather bitter sweet taste in my mouth. With so much to offer, but with one tiny thing to ruin it, you'll wonder where it went wrong.

Let's discuss the good: the graphics (for it's era) were quite satisfactory, and the special attacks of the monsters were lush; the character roster is one of the most impressive in the series; the unlock and point system is at first questioned, yet later you come to realize how much of a good idea it is; the settings and arenas are very detailed. Everything good about a game in one sentence? Whew...

Now time for the beef of this review: the bad. The character control is just absolutely and utterly SLOW. Movement is sluggish and attacks are unsatisfactory. Whilst fighting one of the more cheap opponents (ie. Jet Jaguar, Megaguirus, Mechagodzilla) you feel powerless against their vast arsenal and unpredictable attacks and when you yourself decide to take command of one of them, you find yourself very bad at the character. Some of the game's sounds have a glitch which includes the sound being looped throughout the match (or in severe cases, the entire length of the story mode). One thing that would truly help this game is some damned background music during the fights. Each round starts with light drama music, and subdues into nothingness at around 30 seconds into the match, raising questions as to why they would include the music at all.

As a final statement, I suppose this game may have a certain charm to others, but to me, any other Godzilla game contained in the series is miles ahead of this game. You can find this in the used game bin for roughly $6-8.
