Bite-size Kratos is still big on punches.

Just beat this a few days ago and I've got to say, I'm completely ready for Ghost of Sparta. This reminded me of why I loved the franchise on PS2 all these years. Even being dated two-years, it still looks good...that's what I said about my ex until I found out she was a bit..Anyhow, the programmers/designers somehow translated the epic GoW experience onto the handheld, but don't ask me how they did it. The angles, the graphics, the gameplay...it all just somehow works! I could swear that these are the same graphics from GoW one, although they aren't exactly as smooth as GoW2. Still, the combos and upgrade system are all intuitive and you can pretty much memorize al of the combos with no problem at all (the ones using the L and R buttons were my faves because some don't drain magic, but are just as potent as the special attacks). Like every game in the franchise, it starts off with an epic battle as you chase the Persians' gargantuan basilisk throughout the city culminating in an awesome battle where the beast towers over you on a bridge. While the game never lived back up to this moment in terms of epic boss battles (no, not even the battle against the game's main antagonist Persephone), it never relents in the "Wow" factor as the camera frequently zooms out to reveal colossal, detailed landscapes/settings. The main perks are that the gameplay is always fun (I often used brutal finishing moves to disintegrate my enemies) and everything always look beautiful. In that aspect, beyond the scope of Kratos' revenge it is a game about discovery. So, please do yourself a favor and pick up a copy to discover one of the most beautiful games on PSP to date...that is, before Ghost of Sparta comes out, which I have no doubt will trump this game in terms of grandioseness. Also, fans of the series will be treated to more of a familial insight into the otherwise "impersonal" character.
