I like the God of War series, but all of these prequels just seem like the lazy way out. Surely they could come up with something that happens after the events of GoW3. What's after Infancy, GoW: Zygote?

kind of agree... i was hoping they might even go into a whole different culture x3 like norse would be cool XP
  • Jan 8, 2013 10:51 pm GMT
^ word son norse would be dope. Catholicism might be interesting as well. Killing all the saints and what not. It can start with a kid who had a bad experience with a priest. And thats where his rage comes from.

A 22 year late abortion policy would be much better then what we have now. So we could see just what kind of person you become.

    >Norse
Cross-dressing Thor, Loki raped by a horse (birthing Odin's steed), Ice Giants trolling the gods, etc. I'm not convinced it is worth the time. Egyptian might be even less worthwhile. Greek is tops.

Perhaps they can incorporate Yoshi and have him carry bawling Kratos around. It worked for Mario and made for some solid games.

I do say I normally dislike prequels but are we really playing these GoW games for the plot? If the game is decent, I doubt I’ll care why Kratos is slaughtering people.

To be fair, the Greeks have equally messed-up stories and they’ve somehow been “altered” out of the GoW version of events. I’d imagine a Norse version would do the same. At least Dante’s Inferno didn’t pull the punches. Egyptian could be fun but there’s less personality in those fellows.

    >decent
About GoWIII's level. Hard to say how much damage the MP will have done. Enough to counter the 'sequel effect'? Perhaps.

    >equally messed up
    And then some.

    >would do the same
Certainly. Who could take Loki seriously with a story like that to start him off?

    >didn't pull punches
It certainly didn't tuck its junk between the legs.

    >less personality
Bunch of furries and their dick worship.

Im gonna buy and play the game anyway but im tired of the 'road to redemption' theme.. we all know what happened in GOW3! Next game will be '16 yo Kratos looking for redemption after Ares kidnapped his brother'..

Agreed. Kratos is unique in that he’s a legit sicko, psychopath, total jerk and is blinded by revenge and doesn’t care who burns in his way. Them trying to “redeem” him just makes him like every other “anti-hero” out there. How strange to want to take a unique character and make them exactly like all the others.

Damn, people just constantly bi*** about this game. Get over it.

There’s very little whining about the game in this thread.

Hotel: Plenty of whining about whing though.

    >Kratos is a special snowflake for being a jerkass
    You bet.

    >want to ruin him by making him likable
Being unlikable is what I like about him.

I agree with this topic, when I first saw that picture of kratos being held with chains and the title "Ascension", I was sure this was going to be a sequel and I am a bit dissapointed about this being another prequel.
It might be interesting to see how Kratos turned into the mad namescreaming killing machine we know, and what he was like before that.

I will blindly buy this game but this better be the last prequel.

    >the last prequel
    >doesn't go back to the time before the BoC
    Nope.

It would be more silly if they did a series after GOW III. The gods are all dead, no sun, no land, no people. What will the story be about? It would be also ridiculous because they already made us know that kratos committed suicide, hope spread etc..

True, the director of god of war 3 said that after gow3 greek mythology was finished, which is probably the reason why ascension is another prequel.

But the director of god of war 1 said he wanted Kratos to become death itself and change the setting to norse mythology, something a lot of people including myself would like to see. There is no way to justify another prequel or sequel set in greek mythology after Gow Ascension.

    The gods are all dead

There are plenty of interesting gods still alive.

no sun, no land, no people. What will the story be about?

Yeah, boy it’s impossible to make a game about a post-apocalyptic scenario. They don’t have any games about that subject.

Seriously though, I’ve always suggested that a battle for Zeus’ throne among the remaining gods could make some interesting stuff.

It would be also ridiculous because they already made us know that kratos committed suicide

And then ruined it by showing that he crawled away afterward so they intended to leave the door open. And it’s not like Kratos hasn’t died before…in fact he’s died in every major game so far.
  • Jan 23, 2013 10:57 am GMT
Yes, he died in the series a lot of times but in the middle of the series, like in GOW II it was very clear that he won't die because the game has just began.

that is very selfish of you guys. The people at Sony are humble farmers. How else can they support their lifestyle if they cannot get any more milk from GOW? Man, some people....

GMG, Why do you think that God of War should be "GoW" and Gears of War should be "GOW", if you're thinking like this way, they should both be "GoW" because they both contain "of"
