Isnt this game a bit redundant, story-wise?

I mean, it looks like a fun game, I'm not saying it will be bad or anything. But with the two PSP games, isnt that the third prequel we have to the original God of War trilogy?
I know that it doesnt seem there could be much to be done with a sequel to the third game, seeing how the world is done for and on the verge of destruction, but couldnt' they go in a different direction? A prequel, story-wise, has always had to me a very limited appeal since we already know how it will end. The only thing we do not know precisely is exactly how the pieces of the puzzle will fall in to become the outlines of the next installements, but it limits the way the story could expand. And seeing as this is another prequel, I do have to ponder how much more new backstory they can add to an already finished saga.
I'd really like to see what happens after GoW 3. Say the world is rebuilt by newcomers, norse gods for instance, and that we get a new protagonist to carry on Kratos' fits of endless destruction. Wouldnt that be interesting?

Instead of being a complete "richard", you could have just posted a link.
ON TOPIC:
Is this going to be a prequel?
I been a GoW fan for little over a year and I really like the series but to make a 3rd prequel is just over kill.

Yeah, it's a prequel again. It's supposed to be the first chronological chapter of the saga, meaning we backtrack even more in the game's timeline. I'd rather prefer that they would continue the story or make a new one, instead of adding to it's backstory in character development and the circumstances that will eventually lead to the ulterior installments.
It's somewhat limited to keep treading the same prequel grounds, because we all know the story cannot expand in certain ways. By the end of the game, we all know where Kratos will be and who will be left dead or alive. I may eventually play this game since the gameplay looks awesome, but I am somewhat dissapointed that they didnt take the story elsewhere.

I agree that prequels are lame but…well…it’s God of War. Story has never been the strong point and certainly isn’t the reason I’m picking up these games. In the end, who cares?
Here’s the story we need: “Take Kratos, place him in crazy locales, find some dumb excuse for him to slaughter countless grunts and destroy huge creatures, gods and demons. Kratos wins. The End.”
I assume that the point of this game was to make MP but they couldn’t do an MP-only God of War game (why is beyond me) so they threw together some half-assed story and SP mode. I’m more worried that the SP will just be lackluster than the story.

You can say what you mean (we won't tell on you) and that name is a proper noun. Treat it is as such, boy.

Defeats the purpose. You know you can't be lazy.

For now.

You bet.

No. But Stheno? Sounds like a party. Sign me up.
>SP will be lackluster
Yeah, probably. Not as bad as handheld entries. Somewhere about where GoWIII had us (but shorter).
