The devs said they're going to patch it to make it less difficult. Probably soon.

It took me 6 tries to beat that damn trial.
I always fought defensive and minding the gorgons etc.

Finally I just took my fire blades and knocked the hell out of the first wave.
I really spammed with everything I had.

    Good luck man!

spam everything you've got!!  by this stage in the game you should have the blades fully up-graded, I used the blades with (fully upgraded) zeus power (sorry can't remember the correct name).  For the first two waves i spammed everything magic and the L2 Triangle and L2 Square mechanics. Don't worry about using all your magic, as you will get more when you kill the medusa's with the mini game.  the 3rd wave (starts with a centuar) is the eaisest, the first two is where i struggled the most in particular the first wave with the medusa's, but stick with it man you'll get it.

There is a video on how to do it in TITAN.  He relies on tactic, and not skill.  So if you try to do the same things he does, I bet you will be able to do it quite easily in normal.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lFpQf05baek

You need to block often and use Orkos stone, and the amulet of Uroboros as soon as they recharge.  Once the first 2 gorgons die, 2 witches will appear.  That is the time to begin using magic.  Always kill them with the red halo using R1, so that they recharge you 1 magic bar, and you can keep using your magics.

The trials are not hard, you just need to have EVERYTHING upgraded at that point.  Which is easily done because there are lots of white chets through all the game.  And In the temple of the Oracle there are 11 white chest, 6 feathers and 5 eyes.

After 10-15 tries, and after much perseverence, I was finally able to complete this absolute **** of a section on hard mode. Here are some of my tips on how to complete this.

    Wave 1 - 4 Gorgons, 2 Sirens

The first thing to know is that this 1st wave is by far the hardest. First, 2 Gorgons will show. The idea is to dodge its magic beam attack so you don't get turned to stone and die, but the main trick is to always perform a parry on their physical attacks (L1 + X). This will allow you to stun them (you will know they are stunned when they have a white halo on their heads), and get yourself some free hits on them, but don't perform the grab move just yet. Also, DON'T USE TOO MUCH MAGIC!!!!! This cannot be stressed enough, as it is absolutely essential that you have some magic on you for the later rounds. Do use some, however don't be too reliant on it, and don't waste it at every chance you get. And try and kill the Gorgons wth an execution move if you can, as this will give you some more magic if you have used some already. Once you kill 2 of them, the Sirens will pop up. One of the best ways to kill these is to wait until they are at the very edge of the area, then try to use the Hades magic to whack them out of the arena for some easy kills. but your main focus should be to take out the Gorgons as quickly as you possibly can, so that everything can be much more manageable. As for the grab move mentioned earlier, doing this when the Sirens show is by far the best time to do this, as this turns all nearby enemies into stone, giving you time to attack other enemies and hopefully getting some easy kills as well. Whatsmore, the lightning strikes from the Sirens are a pain in the arse when the Gorgons are still around, so try and dodge these at the nearest opportunity you get. Also, don't bother trying to grab the Sirens, as they will always block it. Once the Gorgons are gone, take care of the Sirens. Their attacks are easily blocked and dodgable, so you should have no problem with this. Once this is over, make sure you have plenty of magic on you, as you will be unable to restore any until the very end of the last round.

    Wave 2 - 2 Amazons, Harpies, 1 Electric Knight

Magic works wonders here, as you are fighting in a very tight space, which means that you will hit the enemies everytime you use it. Just about every single attack from the Amazons is 100% blockable, so make sure you do this as much as possible, while also evading as many of their attacks as you can. Once they charge at you, be ready to perform a QTE counter and knock them down. You can deal with the Harpies in any way you wish, as these do not propose much of a challenge. My advice would be to attack them as normal, as this can allow your rage meter to fill up more quickly. EXECUTE THE AMAZONS!!!! Do this, as this will reward you with heatlh orbs for each one. Once you see the red halo above their heads, instantly press R1 to grab them and perform your execution at the earliest opportunity, as getting more heatlh here is essential. Once the Amazons and Harpies are dealt with, an electric knight will pop up, as well as flames which will shoot across from the side. The best thing to do here is to allow your clone to chip away at his health, while you worry about dodging the flames. Of course, you will have to jump over the flames and pass the knight at some point, so as soon as you jump the flames and land, dodge instantly, and be aware of his special electric attack as well. Once he powers up, make dodging the flames your primary focus. There are also some Harpies as well, so be aware of those while you dodge the flames. Once you can perform the execution on the knight, do this as quickly as possible, and you're almost there (yippie)!!

    Wave 3 - 1 Centaur, 2 Wraiths

Without a doubt, the easiest of them all (yay!). The only problem with this one is that you are playing in an environment where the side walls will cause you damage, so try and stay somewhere in the middle if you can. The Centaur doesn't pose much of a challenge, most of his attacks are blockable, and if he charges at you, just perform a QTE, counter it and knock him over. Just make sure you hit all button presses during the execution. After that, the 2 Wraiths will appear. BLOCK!!! Yes, do make sure you have a finger over that block button (L1), as their blade throwing attack is lethal, and you will be dealt a huge amount of damage if you don't block it. Once they go underground, now is your chance to damage them. Grab them them, jump up, do your combos, and do as much damage as you can. Once they land, they can go straight back underground if you're not careful. And do the executions on them as well, as this can restore your magic, which again, can work wonders on this part. Once you have killed them, scream with delight and do a victory screech, because you sir, are home free!!! Hurrah!!!!

This is an extremely hard section, and you should really feel a sense of achievement once you finally do it. Just use your attacks preservedly, and block and evade to the absolute best of your ability. Oh, and use your L2 attacks!!!! The Amulet and clone attacks can really buy you some time and can help you get a good deal of damage in, especially if you are low on health.

Hope this all helps fellow gamers, and good luck!!

Have you guys even played its predecessors? Have you guys ever went into the clone fight in the GOW 1? Have you guys ever faced Zeus in GOW2? Have you guys ever faced Skorpious in GOW3 or the clone part of Zeus in GOW3 also? It surely seems like it isn't.

I just don't understand why everyone is whinning about this part. Compared to those it's peanuts. Even the Cerebrus part at GOW3 is harder.

I agree with Assemblent. There were much harder things in the other games, for me at least. Like in GOW3 at the end of the Labyrinth where there are just waves upon waves of enemies where it almost seems endless, and then shortly after that the fight with the molten cerberus.

The Trials of Archimedes only took me about two tries, but I don't know maybe I just got lucky.
