I really tried to enjoy this game but I just couldn't.

I'll explain why, first of all the story is just alright, there really isn't a complex story, and if it's going to be that way The game better have really good gameplay. It just gets old with beat em up segments after beat em up segments it gets repetitive and stale and the whole game is built around them, however there are some good things about the beat em up part of the game there are many spells you can use and power ups and there are also more combos to unlock and they can be really helpful, but when you are playing beat em ups there better be some parts that have something different to them and on this one there are just a lot of the same enemies in fact there are like no bosses on this game I mean there are a few I guess but like 3 I believe that's it, what's up with that. Like I was saying though the beat em up parts get old after a while especially when they keep the enemies coming, ughh, most of the puzzles are tedious and most of them are used continually, you know there are some games that have some really good puzzles but even some have some bad ones, and that can be excusable however God of war has this and you don't have to do that puzzle just once but twice, oh did I say twice? How about three freaking times, like in the end when you are climbing up from the underworld, and you have to climb up these spiral type thing that moves in a circle and you must scale it and they have sharp blades coming out of them so you must dodge those while its moving in a circle already and if you hit them with your pinky you fall all the way down and once you scale the first one there are 3 (I believe) that you must also climb atop and each are taller than the next.

Who thought of this idea, one wasn't enough this honestly killed the game for me sure there were some good parts but the puzzles were tedious the controls were alright, however the R3 stick is used to dodge, and that's fine however it's not really needed and usually the R3 stick is used for the camera and that's another major problem in this game, when you are climbing steep paths you really need the camera to see where your feet are. The story is just ok, I just honestly don't like Kratos, that much, I usually like being the hero in the game, and the problem with Kratos is that they don't make you sympathize with him in the story (spoiler alert) Before Kratos is about to die he calls on Ares the God of War to help him kill his enemies, Ares listens and gives Kratos the blade of Chaos (your main weapon) Soon Kratos becomes mad with power and ends up killing his wife and child. So we are supposed to feel sorry for this guy? He's murdered a bunch of women and children throughout his conquest for power but when the tables are turned on his family it's not okay. So now he is mad at Ares, instead of looking at himself, he's mad at Ares, He basically made a deal with the devil but he chooses to blame someone else, and that's why I not only can't relate with this guy, but I really just am not a fan of him. The beat em up part of the game is actually really good when it doesn't get really repetitive, most of the spells are pretty useful and you can upgrade each one and your weapons and it is a nice addition. One reason I think it gets really repetitive is because most of the enemies you fight are the same type of enemies and there aren't a whole lot of special grapples that make God of War what it is today, most people like to grapple their enemy because you can brutally kill your enemy this way, and part of the problem is there are not many boss fights, and this is just a really another inexcusable flaw, why would you have a beat em up game and not have many bosses for it, I mean there are 3 bosses(I believe) in the whole game that's it why?

Overall I think God of War seems to be confused on what it wants to be a puzzle solving game, or a beat em up game, when it comes to the puzzle solving aspect of the game I just do not appreciate it, however the beat em up parts are pretty good not perfect but are fun for the most part, there are some good parts to this game but they are overshadowed by tedious, cryptic puzzles. I just feel like this one could have been better.
