God of war is one of the most amazing games that i have ever played. The combos in the game are truly a work of art.

At first sight God of War may just seem like your basic hack and slash, but after a bit of playing you see that it is a more engaging experience then games like Lord of the Rings: Two Towers and Gauntlet Legends. As soon as you start the first level you see just how detailed the environments in the game can be, this game I think really pushes what the PS2 is capable of. The control in the game is very quick and responsive, and has to be especially with the fast paced boss battles and semi-boss battles. The highlight of the game no doubt is the combo kill system. When your fighting the much bigger and harder enemies, like the serpents head you fight towards the beginning of the first level, each has a unique way of killing them. For example, the first serpent at the beginningof the game, after you have gotten him down to a certain health either O, X, Square, or Triangle will appear on the screen, press it and the combo begins. Kratos will perform the first part of the combo, then another button appears, press it and the next part, and so on till the amount of buttons in the combo are successfully completed. However, if you mess up at any time by pressing the wrong button or missing the button then not only does the enemy regain most of his health, but you will take the damage instead. If completed correctly though, you will be treated to a truly amazing and almost always very gruesome death of your enemy. God of War is a truly remarkable game that will keep you entertained for hours on end and will have you wanting to play it every minute you can spare.
